The Baxter sounds interesting - I'm hoping for real issues of 'Jungle Jazz" and "African Jazz" someday. I think TTK oughta open up a "soundtrack corner" thread!? just finished listening to selections from "The World of Suzie Wong". it was alright!

C., That MMW Radiloarians series is some of their best work IMO. III is my favorite and then reverse. Big new box set coming this week as well. Saw them a few weeks back and they were unstoppable! While I don't have III yet (I need to get it soon) I will say Radiloarians II is the best album MMW ever made and its the album I kind of always wanted them to make. I think what makes it so great is that before they went into the studio to cut these tracks they toured with them for a year so they had the optimal arraignments and familiarity with them for the improvisations as opposed to the normal way of recording a brand new song for a album and they having the tracks develop into something better later on tour. I missed the pre-larians shows but I was just blown away at the musicianship they are now so comfortable with. Medeski is the Dick Butkus of the groove!

Yeah, and she apparently "went public" after being upset to learn that she wasn't Tiger's only mistress! -

The driveway might be deemed a cart path but she still should have moved him only a couple of club lengths and back toward the garage. Winter rules I gather as she did "pick and clean". -

little CNN piece FWIW the production sound on the Gilles Havana band side w/ Fonseca etc. is fantastic! Their take on Dorham's "Afrodisia" is superb. -
Ahh, so you had a well rounded development. Me - Canton till I could leave! Thread drift --- katty corner to the Palace was old McKinley High - The O'Jays began by singing atop the tables during lunch time (so it goes).

Where, the Liberty Tree Mall in Danvers....then LP shopping at Lechmere's afterwards? Palace Theater - Canton, Ohio! '65/'66. Same place I had to sleep thru all them biblical movies. I think I've been to the Palace. I was born in Canton, Ohio, in Timken-Mercy Hospital. GITDAFUGGOUT! Me too!!! That's just plain crazy!

I take it your closing down your brick & mortar then? -
I just wrote to the bastids for such a thing this morning ... they pack shit so poorly that they nearly always break a hub tooth or case cover - maybe since most of the goods are imports one never knows when in the supply line the breakage occurs. if it's a jewel hub I just chuck it but the soft packs are the real pain. I think you have a market here. What if one designed some sort of hard foam or pvc insert that could fit under the hub and still secure the disc to the backer? Then you just break out all the remaining teeth and replace with the new hub that allows the CD to squish onto the thing and stay put. I remember David Byrne's 'Feelings' CD instructed you to bust out the teeth so the arrow printed disc could spin freely on the "color mood wheel".

What a great sublime late nite kinda record! Does Hawkins play piano on any other albums?

wishing you a speedy recoup. do keep a list of the painkillers and issue a report on your top ten. -
Havana Cultura trickling off of his recent podcasts Gilles knocks one out again. at the very least give some attention to Harold López-Nussa. click "Jungla". you can access individual artist features off the somewhat dodgey website.

there I was searching some obscure jazz artifact or two and scroll down to find that sig pic of the gal from Mad Men all red headed and then some so I just wanted to say thank you in your welcome thread! -
"see", that's why I defer... who other female singers, "pop" that appeals to your tastes and the like, that are really knocking you out? Céu kinda opens things up with her accessible modernism ... sort of the same when Marisa Monte took in Arto and came up with a very different sound to these northern ears.
