It's the Lumix FZ35.
I bought this for my wife because she didn't like the heavy weight and complexity of my Pentax SLR.
She also didn't deserve having my old Sony Cybershot that came before the Pentax,
so I spent a few weeks researching and went with the Lumix.
It's even lighter than the old Cybershot from 2001 and, of course, the big Pentax,
which is a plus for carrying around,
but I'm blown away by the ease and quality of pictures taken in "Intelligent Auto" mode.
If your wife isn't into constantly fiddling with it, then this is crucial.

I'm really considering this for myself (or maybe an upgraded version?)
for when I go back to Linz again in a few months.
The pictures of the multi-colored building that I posted above?
Those were taken with the Pentax.
That building is a constant light-show that I hope to be capturing with my new Lumix!
Thanks for that ... I was in between the Canon SX20 IS and the Nikon P100 but conjuring Ashton Koootcher every time I zoom has me thinking otherwise.
I'm going looking tomorrow so the Lumix w/ the Leica is now a candidate.
And it's right in the mix of the two spec wise.
