  1. Does Chi Chi count? I was looking for a "Fickle Sonance" album thread??
  2. good .. glad to hear from the die-hards ... I always felt like I "needed" to keep watching esp when other friends were devouring past seasons on DVD after I had tossed in the towel - it was one of those weekly regimens that just got too convoluted. then again I never got "Out to Lunch" either.
  3. so do all of you who stuck it out feel like suckers? I gave up a couple years ago when it got way too obtuse and too demanding (for someone who thought Twin Peaks was the most genius thing going at the time & even now).
  4. It's the Lumix FZ35. I bought this for my wife because she didn't like the heavy weight and complexity of my Pentax SLR. She also didn't deserve having my old Sony Cybershot that came before the Pentax, so I spent a few weeks researching and went with the Lumix. It's even lighter than the old Cybershot from 2001 and, of course, the big Pentax, which is a plus for carrying around, but I'm blown away by the ease and quality of pictures taken in "Intelligent Auto" mode. If your wife isn't into constantly fiddling with it, then this is crucial. One of the most complete reviews can be found here. You can click on the "Features" link, go to almost the bottom of the page and see a more "real-life" video taken with this camera. I'm really considering this for myself (or maybe an upgraded version?) for when I go back to Linz again in a few months. The pictures of the multi-colored building that I posted above? Those were taken with the Pentax. That building is a constant light-show that I hope to be capturing with my new Lumix! Thanks for that ... I was in between the Canon SX20 IS and the Nikon P100 but conjuring Ashton Koootcher every time I zoom has me thinking otherwise. I'm going looking tomorrow so the Lumix w/ the Leica is now a candidate. And it's right in the mix of the two spec wise.
  5. Rod, what camera are you using there? he's great! I'm in the midst of trying to buy a new camera for my wife and like the HD features on some of the newer near DSLR point and shoot models. Price and being too old to figure out a big SLRs the main reason I'm not going there. kinuta, which model might this be? happy? thanks!
  6. I stopped by Newbury Comics at lunch to nib around and they said they were all sold out across the board, stores, warehouse etc of the "deluxe". Flew off the shelves I was told. Target is selling an exclusive "just the extras" on a single disc for anyone who needs them. best bet - iTunes has a free video download of "Plundered My Soul". Well worth the money - as I used to like looking at all them little pics on the gatefold a waaay back.

  13. Brian Fies has an interesting analysis of that piece up on his blog here. thanks for that - indeed a nice take on how phenomenal a draftsman he was ... and had no idea that was a Wally Wood ink.
  14. I surprised she wasn't more tight-lipped about it?
  15. When I was in seventh grade my art teacher showed me an article in American Artist magazine on Frazetta - I became a fan and followed him into his ubiquity. wrist in peace mini obit NY Times-update
  16. I sure would like to see EMI release a good batch or comp or something. Those Solid States listed on Payne's site are owned by? old lyt(t)le thread
  17. could have saved a few pounds of bronze and made that thing out of crack in the first place.
  18. Put all the "cookin'" tracks (+ "The Rev") from the OJCs and you got a killer disc! I love that stuff but really wished they'd a put more cayenne in Richardson's flute.
  19. you don't really have to show "positive feedback" to get a payment do you!? i would imagine that issuing a tracking number and thus showing PayPal proof of delivery via UPS or USPS w/ delivery confirm #s certainly proves that the transaction is complete. god forbid the buyer hates the typeface you scrawl on the shipping box.
  20. ... and the older ya get the easier it is to blow out the candles with your back to the cake!
