One side of the Reggie Lucas album was like that, but the other side was a bunch of stuff that is very much in between On The Corner & Get Up With It. I only played that one side once or twice, but the Miles-y stuff I played a lot. On a completely unrelated note, that Air Pocket thing will appeal to anybody who digs hyper-complex Zappa-is fusion material It's a Fowler Brothers project. I cuaght it on a blog, played it once, and put it away Well wouldn't ya know it, only the side one tracks are on youtube. The first cut, Slewfoot actually sounds pretty good. Would love to check out those side two tracks

I know nothing of him, other than reading that he played with Miles in 1975. What is Dune like?

This drum keeps beating louder for me. Too many why I am watching (or reading) this moments.

Cool, thanks. I really like your Bandcamp site! -
I eat them in the shell. Always have - maximizes the sodium and fiber content.

Freddie Hubbard solo on Lost Dreams (liquid love 1975)

Wow, that is GOOD - unbelievably funky!! -
See this very recent thread: I bought the Steve Lehman and Anna Webber titles based on the recommendations. Although that thread only has two pages versus the 28 here (granted this thread was started in Sept. 2013) I also bought several (well more than several) CDs from the 2014 thread. I kind of have the Blue Note stuff figured out and really appreciate all the new music discussion. This is especially true given we don't get a bunch of those folks coming through KC.

Thanks for the recommendation on Uptown Conversation - always wondered. 1st official "organissimo recommendation purchase" of 2015, I am sure there are many, many more to follow

What's the most you'd pay for a CD/Album?
Eric replied to Hardbopjazz's topic in Miscellaneous Music
For. a CD, maybe $25. It is ok to not own everything. -
26/30 ...

No doubt. That is one of the biggest difference I see between the games on Sat and the games on Sun.

The portion of the notes to the new Dial Mosaic written by Ross Russell in 1995 include this paragraph: Charlie Parker signed a contract to record exclusively for Dial on the condition that he would have complete control of the sessions, the material to be recorded and the selection of his sidemen. Bird had lost interest in making such up-tempo, "frantic" recordings as SALT PEANUTS and A DIZZY ATMOSPHERE. "They are played too fast," he told this writer. "They are not my kind of music. I have my own tunes that I want to record." This was the basis of the contract signed after the closing hours at Tempo Music Shop on February 26, 1946. FWIW, the discography (and Russell in his notes) indicates that there were seven Parker-led Dial sessions. The first four (from March 1946 - February 1947) were recorded in Hollywood. The remaining three (from October 1947 - December 1947) were recorded in NYC.

Are there any box bargains currently available?
Eric replied to GA Russell's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Depending on where you order from, aDE's 35€ might be the better offer: http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00IOQSW7A/ I've eyed this, but I really know sh*t about the music it contains ... would it be of interest to someone (uhm, me) who prefers soul the raw southern (Stax) way? NO............ It is great stuff, but it is the antithesis of raw & southern. Agree, and it's not Motown either. Really its own thing and if I didn't have much of this, I would jump on it. This is the ultimate Philly International cut to me. Give a listen, and if this style sufficiently appeals to you, go get the boxes. They are great music at a great price. Not to hijack the thread but this is an awesome Philly Intl compilation that I have given as a gift several times. Of course it contains the above track http://www.amazon.com/Phillys-Super-Soul-Hits/dp/B0012GN17A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420048209&sr=8-1&keywords=philly+soul -

The Dixon is one of my most-played CDs from the last few years.
