  1. I think Devils & Dust is a decent record. I agree that it is more Tunnel than anyhing, but it not a copy of that. The tunes are pretty good, although the melodies of a few seem underdeveloped. My biggest issue is his voice on some of the cuts. In the third song - the one about the guy and the hooker - he adopts this Dylan-like drawl that is damn near undecipherable. Kind of ruins it for me. He does the same thing on a couple other tracks. He also sings in a falsetto on a few others, which is not nearly as annoying. Probably 75% of the tracks are very good IMHO. Not his best, certainly not his worst.
  2. Yep, I was pulling for him - gutsy player. It was a great finish ... would have loved to have seen Dimarco win!
  3. Yes, very nice! I saw them in Lawrence KS when they were touring behind this lp. The Rapture opened for the Shins ... pretty tough act to follow. Those guys are crazed ...
  4. Laptop ... Sorry... have to do it..... Craptop Download ...

    The Who

Thought I read somewhere that they will have a new album, sometime in 2005 ... anyone else heard this? Any talk of a tour?
  6. I vote for "it's the Internet" for all the reasons cited above Check out any of the Yahoo message boards for public companies - stock dips 5% and all kinds of anonymous loons start coming out of the woodwork to call for someone's balls
  7. Double-sweet!!! I have been turning my 12 year old budding guitar-hero on to this one
  8. Sweet!!! "Setting Sons" would be high on my list too.
  9. I see no reason to choose between these two
  10. Joe Henderson - Mode for Joe
  11. Highnote is coming out with Vol. 4 of the previously unissued live stuff on 4/26

  15. seller must have wised up, it's now going for $44.00 ...
  16. I remember that. So, you never found it? Sadly, no. I thought it might turn up when I moved, but no such luck. I had made some backup burns of some of the sessions, so I was not out too much of the music. But I do miss the book! I often wonder who wound up with the thing ... sadly, I suspect they were likely disappointed (unless they ebayed it ). Needless to say I am drooling for a Conn of Andrew!!! and the Hubbard/Henderson date
  17. Also, neither My Funny Valentine or Four and More include "Autumn Leaves", which is in the box. Whatever. I would rather have the individual CDs of this material.
  18. I actually lost my Andrew Hill set. No shit. My kid took it into the car to use as a hard surface for drawing (unbeknownst to me). Somewhere along the way, the damn thing disappeared.
  19. I went with Alone Again. It somehow seems more pathetic. The other two are more teeny-bopish, so they get a pass.
  20. If memory serves, the complete "Four and More" issued in the 90s(?) included some bonus tracks - did they make it to the current re-issue? I don't think there were any on "My Funny Valentine", re-issued a few weeks ago.
  21. oh yeah!!! isn't it the same Telecaster he still plays? then (from 1976):
