  1. I assume she peformed her Ursual material....
  2. How do you know these were Harvey's?
  3. This all just proves that Rodney King didn't really give a shit if we all get along!!!
  4. I picked up some this week in NYC. I love the Miles stamp, but weirdly you can not buy it separately from the Piaf stamp (I mean no offense to the French, I hasten to add)
  5. How do you decide to get the new laser? If the unit is around 10 years old are there a lot of other things that are probably old? I hate to fix the laser and then have something else go out, but if the rest of the unit is pretty good, then I might replace the laser. What other parts are vulnerable to aging? I should mention that the unit was pricey and very good sounding so I am not adverse to spending a $150 or so to replace the laser.
  6. Have a great one Kevin
  7. mint condition $10 delivered to a US address
  8. I got this. On your version are there slight gaps betweent the songs or is it continuous?
  9. Does anyone know the answer to this question?
  10. I like this stuff too!! Is this material the stuff that is available on gray market cds like "Double Image" and "Paraphenalia"?
  11. So I've so far had no reason to doubt the "authenticity" of this edition ... please enlighten me as to why I should trust Captain Wrong's statement above! Is what he posted "common knowledge" that I, the rather casual Marley fan, just didn't catch yet? I am a big Marley fan and have been listening to this album for years - it is my favorite of his. I had not heard that the Deluxe Edition version may not be the original. However, if you compare it to the version released in the US, there are clearly overdubs and things added to the US version that make it sound a bit more commercial to me and so it would seem that the "original" version on the Deluxe Edition is probably authentic. One more piece of evidence is the new documentary where Chris Blackwell says that Island took the original and added overdubs for the release outside of Jamaica...so it would seem to be more support for that. Unlike Captain Wrong, I think the "original" Jamaican version on the Deluxe Edition is superior to the overdubbed one that most of us are familiar with.
  12. yes and one begins to dream...
  13. almost no one in this country pronounces the word "jewelry" correctly. Everyone pronounces it as "jewlery"
  14. Not always. http://www.kindakinks.net/discography/showsong.php?song=390 Shows how out of touch Ray Davies was with the British character. Most Brits prefer to talk about Postmodernism or the immortality of the soul rather than the weather. The French admire us for it. What was it Napoleon once called us? 'A nation of philosophers'. I thought he called you guys " A nation of shopkeepers" ... but perhaps you jest?
  15. Kevin Thanks for your response. I became more convinced that the problem was in the preamp - mainly because those are the tubes I changed most recently. I was supplied NOS Mullards from Conrad-johnson who makes the preamp. The noise was spotty - at first it seemed mostly one speaker but at times it was coming through both. I put the old ones back in and the noise stopped so I think it must be the new tubes. Called Cj and I think they are going to send me a new set. Both my amp and preamp are around 15 years old.
  16. My Bill Evans candidate for this topic would be "Intermodulation" with Jim Hall. Much better than the critically preferred "Undercurrent" and just a thing of beauty. I don't think it is even in print right now.
  17. That should be "Can we have more threads about whether ECM is crap" Britons and Americans - two peoples separated by singular and plural verb conjugations for the same subject!! (I hope I said that right)
  18. I sprayed the Deoxit in the tube sockets and the put the tubes in and out several times, but the problem persists. Should I do another treatment or maybe it is a tube?
  19. Price reduced to $14 to a US address
  20. I saw it and loved it too.
  21. Agree totally and Mick was great in the skits too. Best episode of the season.
  22. Cover and disc are mint. I do not have the obi strip. The liner notes - I have removed the Japanese text and taped the English text re song titles and recording information onto an folded regular lp size of rear album cover. $17 delivered to a US address.
