  1. Steve Earle & The Dukes - Ghosts of West Virginia
  2. My wife has lost family members on her mother’s side. Probably know around a dozen that were hospitalized and experiencing long term effects but survived and probably around 4-5 times that that have tested positive.
  3. I never expected it to be a jazz movie. I mean, it is a movie for kids. I feel like if it was a jazz movie kids wouldn’t like it.
  4. Soundscan numbers have to come from a retailer, which the numbers are decreasing. My point is the cd you used to buy at Best Buy or Tower can’t be purchased there anymore and if you that purchase from the artist it’s not going to be counted for your article. Yes Amazon would give you an idea but what about the albums not available on Amazon? My only point is that the info in the article may not be that accurate.
  5. Yeah. I’m not quite sure what’s going on. I only ship in the US but something they did made it show I only ship outside. I also know they are pushing their payment system cutting out PayPal. I don’t sell enough to care, usually I just try to sell here. For example I’ve had an extra copy of Jemeel Moondoc’s - Revolt album for over two years I meant to list and just found reorganizing since moving a year ago. I need to be better about selling.
  6. $3 cd and $5 LP. I usually reuse packaging from items I receive. Mostly the boxes for cds from dusty groove orders. I don’t sell a lot so I usually just keep 3 mailers and flip them inside out using the brown side as the outside. When I sold a lot on eBay 10+ years ago I used bubble mailers because the were cheap and easy to find. But I was actively flipping at that time and only cds, most NOS hip hop going overseas.
  7. I haven’t listened to they Wynton album in a long time but I’m pretty sure I remember them being two different compositions.
  8. The Blue Whale, Beloved Hub of the Jazz Scene in Los Angeles, Announces Permanent Closure This is devastating to me. I was wondering if it was going to be able to hang on and would check every month to make sure it wasn't announcing its closing, but alas, 2020 screwed us one more time. If you've never been here you missed out. It was a crappy location but it had parking underneath and the first few years it was there it was $5 parking! Unheard of late night in Los Angeles. Of course it eventually increased to I think $15 the last time I was there last year. Steve Coleman held court for two Decembers in a row on residency. I saw Vinny Golia there probably a dozen times. They used to get some of the best show for the Angel City Jazz Fest. The drink selection was good and the food, mostly appetizers were also worth having. So many nights I would get there early to make sure I had a seat along the wall, almost always to the left of the stage audience perspective by the piano, so I could lean back and absorb the music. So many wonderful memories.
  9. This is only soundscan numbers though which would omit Bandcamp and I’m assuming direct purchase from label/artist unless they are reporting them to soundscan, which would seem pointless. I think believing the death of a medium based on numbers from outlets that no longer exist (tower records, Sam goody, etc) is a bit misleading.
  10. I do enjoy that one as well as the other New Orleans inspired Spirit of Congo Square and The New Sound of Mardi Gras. I think of all I listen to Kenny Kirkland’s self titled album the most frequently. That album is fantastic! Holy crap. How did I not find this site? Thanks! edit: I have Ruslan Khain’s album on this label and it’s not listed on the site. It’s SRCD-0037. Nice $3 find bought strictly off the strength of the label.
  11. That is a label that put out some great stuff but is impossible to find out what they released. I usually stumble upon it in used bins. I tried a couple times to find discography for the label to no avail. Possible due to the label name.
  12. William Parker and David Budbill - What I Saw This Morning purchased from AUM maybe the day before they updated their site. No longer see it listed. I feel very fortunate to have it.
  13. I was curious about that as well but just assumed it was a copyright thing, though The Half Note used to be an actual club. When I saw Dorthea I instantly thought Camilla Thurman
  14. I really liked it. I didn’t find it depressing but understand how someone could.
  15. I’m going to revisit this album right now. It’s been too long. I did see she finally has a new album coming next year.
  16. Thank you for the cdjapan link. I placed my order along with the Kaoru Abe - Tohoku Sessions 1972 which I’ve debating over for a while now. Figured if I spending for the shipping I might as well get both and save.
  17. The vocals albums William Parker has released. I largely ignored them because of the vocals, but I have to admit i was missing out. This music is marvelous. Raining on the Moon is particularly a great group but even the For Those Who Are, Still albums are excellent. Will pick up Voices Fall From The Sky soon I hope.
  18. Prince - Art Official Age I've always loved this album though it is very R&Bish, and a little over polished with the production but the song writing is top notch. Never knew it was on vinyl and happened upon a sealed copy.
  19. These were my top 5+1 from this year: Noah Preminger - Contemptment Vinny Goila - An Electric Love Supreme Julian Arguelles - Atlantico Immanuel Watkins - Omega Chad Taylor - The Daily Biological Michael Thomas - Event Horizon honorary mention: Bob Reynolds - Runway
  20. Haha, I just looked in the book of the cd and they sure did.
  21. He’s also on Dawn Muhammad’s “In The Hood” from 1994 and rereleased a couple years ago as Smoke Signals. It also features Billy Higgins and Phil Ranelin.
  22. If memory serves me correctly, I found my copy in 2016 or maybe 2017. I know I didn't know of its existence on youtube, though I would have still bought it. I thought it had recently been re-released but didn't see mention of it on discos. This is the only track I've heard from AAOBB album. Its fantastic though.
  23. How do you switch it to english? I know of Tennessee Waltz and Begin the Beguine, the latter of which I own, but what other titles were released. Some of these King releases were poorly documented online. I know I found a copy of Miles Modes a couple years before it was released and was super happy as I had only read one discography mentioning its existence. I think it was the poo sun blogspot or something along those lines. found the site http://www.cyborg.ne.jp/~poo-sun/disco/1990.html And speaking of Poo, the album I really am pining for is ALL NIGHT, ALL RIGHT, OFF WHITE BOOGIE BAND
  24. I feel with the lack of activity in this thread we’ve all just given up. Haha
