Got my copy today, has the trademark ECM slipcase, interesting that it was apart of the packaging. May be a couple days until I get to spin it but looking forward to it.

I got my second Moderna shot yesterday. It kicked my ass today. Fatigue and body aches but it appears it’s behind me after multiple naps. Glad to be vaccinated. Going on vacation in August and anticipate I’ll still be wearing a mask.

Looks to be out March 20th in Japan, April 16th or so everywhere else. The Japan release appears to be vinyl and CD everywhere else. This is on the Redhook label from from ECM prodcuer Sun Chung. Standards reinterpreted by Poo. Oddly enough I don't hear any voicing in the video.

First Modern scheduled for tomorrow morning. Only crappy part for me is I have to drive from Long Beach to the valley to get it.

J-Dilla exactly. I actually buy tapes mainly because I rebuilt a tape deck I got off Craigslist and like filling up my rack on the wall. Plus you still get to download them and tapes are cheap. The “genre” is a bit fractured on Bandcamp. It might be tagged instrumental hip hop, beat tape, beattape, etc. it’s fun to discover new sounds. Really like it if they have soul sampling with their beat.

I got a bunch of beat tapes. I honestly haven't been listening to much jazz recently because I've been studying a lot for work. And I usually go through a period of a month or so where I almost exclusively listen to beat tapes. I haven’t been on Twitter but this is...disappointing...I guess is the best word to describe it, mostly about the QAnon aspect.

The Steve Coleman’s On the Edge of Tomorrow and World Expansion along with Greg Osby’s MindGames and Greg Osby and Sound Theatre are what I think of when I think of JMT and all four (On the Edge and MindGames more so) are essential listening for me. The Gary Thomas releases should also be mention though I haven’t spent as much time with them.

And Apple Music

Nice. I’m listening to them in order but they really don’t have any musical connection so far. It’s 10 independent albums with a common theme. The accompanying book is nice to follow while listening.

Shutters as Windows - 18:17 - This the most abstract of the 5 discs I've been able to listen to so far. For me the most difficult to get into but it did start to all come together around Harlem Speaks.

I read the interview William did with Jalalu in his Conversations book but this is my first time (i think) hearing him. He stole the disc. Excellent stuff.
