Jason Palmer - At Wally's Vol. 1. Jason is a fascinating player. Mellow yet dynamic. This is a much more "lively" set compared to his Rhyme and Reason set which was live at the Jazz Standard. Rhyme and Reason sounds like a studio album recorded live in front of an audience versus At Wally"s which sound like a live set that happened to be recorded, if that makes sense. I don't think I've ever heard Jason as "fiery' as his presence on Michael Thomas' Event Horizon which was live from the Jazz Standard, but no matter what or how he plays he is always enjoyable.

I think the length of this thread shows how poorly the USPS has been operated for a long time and that we all concur on that front. It became exponentially worse with the new post master general, at least where I am.

Gregory Porter - All Rise from my local store today. Showed in stock on their site and I popped in and out quick before work. Another fantastic album by Mr. Porter.

Haha. I’ve looked at a couple local shops that are doing things differently. One is having people wait in line, 6 allowed in at a time and 20 min time limit (it’s a really small shop), the other is doing online reservations and you can pick up if you get it. I put in an online reservation for one title in the Sept batch. Don’t really care if I get it though

Ah. I was under the impression the vinyl version was poor also. I may look for the Japanese version. This music does deserve to sound better.

Just finished up listening to this Bobby Timmons cd. Following it with Bird in Sweden.

I enjoyed this 2 cd set but it isn't something I dig out much. Had it for a few years and this is the second or maybe 3rd time i've spun it. Now playing: This shit is fantastic and has stayed in rotation since I got it a few days ago.

Thats so strange, I went mac 15 years ago and am completely satisfied and never considered PC again.

Yeah I figured might as well get them while I know they’re available. I ordered Turtle Bird and Voices of the Spirit from Downtown Music Gallery as well but haven’t had the best of luck completing orders with them lately I think you’ll enjoy any of these. Preludes and Prepositions and Blue Incarnations are favorites so far but I’ve only got 6 titles on hand. The other 5 should be here any day.

So recently I've been digging into the work of Rick Countryman. I've ordered about 10 of his releases via squidco. Multiple configurations include Sabu Toyozumi, Christian Bucher, Simon Tan, amongst others. A lot of live recordings, will really good sound quality on a few different labels or self released. Not a lot of background on him aside for he studied under the wonderful Bert Wilson. He sticks to Alto Saxophone on all that I have heard but apparently started on Baritone. Anyone else familiar with Rick or have any recommendations?

I'm with you and Hutch. I have a few Binney records and never connected with them. I tried to listen to his newest release on Apple Music and just couldn't get into it. It was some weird atmospheric music, that he solo'd behind...some...i guess...i don't really know. I didn't finish it. It just wasn't for me.
