  1. From the duo album Sol Abstraction
  2. So recently I've been digging into the work of Rick Countryman. I've ordered about 10 of his releases via squidco. Multiple configurations include Sabu Toyozumi, Christian Bucher, Simon Tan, amongst others. A lot of live recordings, will really good sound quality on a few different labels or self released. Not a lot of background on him aside for he studied under the wonderful Bert Wilson. He sticks to Alto Saxophone on all that I have heard but apparently started on Baritone. Anyone else familiar with Rick or have any recommendations?
  3. I'm with you and Hutch. I have a few Binney records and never connected with them. I tried to listen to his newest release on Apple Music and just couldn't get into it. It was some weird atmospheric music, that he solo'd behind...some...i guess...i don't really know. I didn't finish it. It just wasn't for me.
  4. If you like Jason's compositions, its much of the same. Odd and at times shifting time signatures. Solo-wise nothing overtly fiery (aside from his solo on Kalispel Bay!) from Jason but very deliberate as expected. Mark follows Jason's lead, their interplay is exceptional, and when he solos its much in the same vein as Jason, nothing searing, very contemplative and with Mark's unmistakeable tone. Matt and Kendrick are their typical selves. I honestly think that either could fit into any ensemble. It's a 2 CD set and as you move to the second disc things tend to liven up more and the band feels like it is settling in.
  5. Jason Palmer - Rhyme and Reason w/Mark Turner, Matt Brewer and Kendrick Scott
  6. Ambrose Akinmusire - On The Tender Spot of Every Calloused Moment Another outstanding release from Mr. Akinmusire.
  7. First name that came to mind was a Muse artist of course. Ricky Ford.
  8. I really enjoy the Immanuel Wilkins album. Very strong debut. The Gerald Clayton was excellent as well. Joel Ross didn’t catch me on two listens.
  9. Does it skate under EU copyright laws?
  10. I almost pulled the trigger on the Christian Scott. Will probably get it next month. This month I got: Michael Thomas - Event Horizon Sanah Kadoura - Hawk Eyes Shiroishi / Byrnes / Wyche - Long Day Logan Richardson - Live At the Ropeadope Room Goldfingaz - Supreme Style
  11. I take it this is gone now given that it’s off mosaics site?
  12. Kawashima Makoto plays in the vein of Abe Kaoru. Not sure where, when this was recorded but it’s a powerful solo performance. I’ve seen Kawashima Makoto live and it’s a spiritual experience. Most of his releases are solo alto sax and on the shorter side but all very moving.
  13. Kawashima Makoto - 枯葉 This is a very special 9 minutes of music
  14. I have a record from Dusty groove and a cd from NY that have gone MIA but two separate cds from France arrive... who knows what the heck is going on.
  15. My copy from the U.K. supposedly shipped. I won’t lie, I basically only bought it out of fear it may never see a proper release.
  16. Vinny Golia has some titles like that. Agree it’s annoying to try and find everything.
  17. Initially it was set to end after July but Bandcamp has extended it through December. https://daily.bandcamp.com/features/update-on-bandcamp-fridays

I’ve had a cdr fail completely. Harris Eisenstadt - Last Minute of Play In this Period. Tried pc and two Macs and half a dozen programs. It happens.

I’ve never heard of diamondsilver cdrs but if someone went to lengths to create a cdr that replicate a dying media more power to them I guess. It used to be that a pressing plant wouldn’t print with a glass master under a 1000 cds so if you ordered 500 they would charge you the same as 1000, print 1000 and trash 500 and give you 500. I don’t recall why but I think it was something about the way the machine would press them it couldn’t do smaller numbers. It’s been a while since I cared about any of this and it’s all muscle memory at this point.

There is no cd-r that is silver like a glass master made cd. Put a real cd next to one you suspect and you’ll know instantly. There are archival cd-r that use 24k gold. I have some but you don’t but those to burn your playlist to, they’re a hard copy back up and were fairly expensive when I got them. These are the ones I used. Memorex 80 min./700MB 52x Pro Gold Archival CDR (3-Pack) (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

It's not silver on the bottom.
  22. I would try a can of deoxit. Spray a little in the pots and work them back and forth. Cheap and if it works great, if not it’s a great product you can use for a long time. A little goes a very long way. Saved $300 buying a “broken” amp and cleaning it. I did other things cosmetically but that was all that needed from an audio standpoint.
  23. Of course my Athletics blow the lead in the 9th and are the first to have a game go into extra innings
