  1. Oh we have different definitions of “Licked” then. I was thinking “Licked” as in fully eliminated.
  2. Which countries have licked this thing?
  3. Just spun Shedrick Mitchell - Introducing Shedrick Mitchell and it falls in this category. Sherman Irby, Stephon Harris, Reggie Washington, Mark Shim, Ali Jackson and Eric Harland. Even with the revolving cast it sounds very uniform and complete as an album. Wonderful disc.
  4. What a great thread idea. The first person I thought of was Dmitry Baevsky. I know his first couple of albums featured Jeremy pelt, Jimmy Cobb, David Wong and I think Tootie Heath. Edit: it was Cedar Walton, not Tootie I pounced on the copy of Baba that was on Discogs. Thanks for the heads up.
  5. SFJazz is supporting Wayne as well per their emails.
  6. I believe this record is walking itself to Long Beach from Los Angeles. 7. I have an order from Japan from April 14th that I have yet to receive and an order from Germany on April 9th that is still missing. I presume both lost.
  8. using my rebuilt tascam 112B and giving this a spin. Under-appreciated Miles Davis is I do say so.
  9. Got my On The Corner Complete set. I’m assuming these are breakouts from the Genius set since the hype sticker has a defunct url on it.
  10. This Willie Wright album is excellent. Very interesting notes on the albums creation as well. Glad I picked it up.
  11. I’ve picked up a few new things but agree it’s been nice digging deeper into my collection. I found so many things I bought and never got around to. Usually when I picked up a large haul at amoeba or on vacation without a record/cd player and never got to them.
  12. The coronavirus has hit one of my best friends. He, his wife whom is pregnant and their daughter all have different symptoms. Crazy! Stay safe out there.
  13. That’s a nice approach. I would be open to that as well. I placed an online order with a shop a couple weeks ago and when I went to pick up they asked if I wanted to browse. There were a couple patrons masks around their necks and the shop owner no mask in sight (Later learned they’ve been open The whole stay-at-home order). I declined and haven’t considered supporting them anymore. It was off-putting, especially personally knowing shop owners who aren’t curcumventing the rules.
  14. I've been thinking about this lately as things appear to be re-opening soon. I, like most here, I assume, enjoy perusing record stores when I get a chance. With the prospect of retail re-opening soon I was wondering others thoughts on shopping specifically for records. The reason I've been thinking of this is, as much as I miss hunting for records, and as much as I want to support my local shops, the prospect of thumbing through bins given the current environment doesn't have the same appeal to me. I understand there are many factors that may lend to why you answer why you do, and they are personal (age, health, etc) and private (such is this poll), but I am curious how others feel on physically browsing through bins.
  15. When I read the reserves would be in the stands i thought that meant those not active from the 50 man roster. So they're calling a pinch runner from the stands? That sounds crazy but entertaining. They should be timed and force to maneuver an obstacle course to get there.
  16. How do you social distance batter catcher ump. Also the dugout ain’t big enough to distance a team 6ft apart.
  17. I have the Boddie set and enjoy it very much. Also have the Syl Johnson mythology vinyl set. Its really interesting stuff and I enjoy the story of the artist/label as much as the music. I considered the Jackie Shane, I’ll keep it on my radar.
  18. I have some of their releases and they are excellent. Thanks for the heads up. I had a pending order and was looking for something to add. Picked up the Willie Wright set.

    Anthony Braxton

This sounds very interesting but the size of his sets are daunting and I don’t find myself returning to them aside from the Parker set
  20. It would appear that larger items are the hold up i.e. records vs cds. I've had a record that departed Los Angeles Processing center on May 9th and still hasn't reached Long Beach. Usually it will leave LA at night and arrive in the morning before out for delivery because, you know, were in the same county. No clue when it will arrive. UPS on the other hand received my package on Monday from pennsylvania and delivered them yesterday.
  21. you can create postage through PayPal
  22. You may prefer the limitations that give analog recordings their sound but that does not make them a better recording medium.
  23. On disc one. Been a couple years since I pulled this out. Really shouldn't wait so long.
