  1. Happy Birthday Nate!
  2. I grew up in New England and I don't ever remember getting winds like this, even when we were supposed to be getting the remnants of a hurricane.
  3. You walked a mile in this weather? You have my sympathy.
  4. That's a danger around here whenever it rains. Many local drivers are complete morons who drive exactly the same in wet conditions as they do in dry. It never fails to amaze me.
  5. Terrible weather here today. Heavy rain and driving winds, with gusts up to 85 mph. Yikes. And we're supposed to get more of the same through Tuesday!
  6. It's probably been mentioned already, but what about the risk of short circuits? Youwch!
  7. An old favorite. I should reread this book.
  8. BTW, I can't say I knew him well enough to love him...hey, we are talking about Phil Spector's father, right?
  9. I definitely listened to music the most, but a close second has to go to DVD commentaries.
  10. Well, I attended a Grateful Dead concert in Lewiston, Maine in 1980 or 81. But I'm not really ashamed of that at all.
  11. Re-writing Martin Williams liner notes----now that ought to be punishable with jail time.
  12. It's not at the Half Price Books near here.
  13. They're probably at least as secure as Tower.
  14. Sorry to hear the bad news. Hopefully a move will do you a world of good. I've visited Oregon a few times and was very taken with it. It might be just what the doctor ordered. Very, very best of luck to you.
  15. Did you run with the Lester Young Story Columbia 2-LP sets of the late 70s? That was a priceless series! Got four volumes of those. Essential stuff.
  16. My period of reading Stereo Review was about 1979-81, and I remember Steve Simmels. Haven't even thought about that mag for so long...
  17. Ad Lib on Nippon---Far East Suite, Ellington
  18. Blue Rose---Ellington/Rosemary Clooney
  19. It sure sounds fine to me.
  20. Same here! Though I must say, they could have given the thing a better cover.
  21. I love the Curtis Amy Select! But there isn't anything else like "Katanga" on it. Matter of fact, there isn't anything else like "Katanga" most any place. "A Shade Of Brown" (track #6)----I like that as much as "Katanga."
  22. But it was worth every penny.
  23. Already got it, but I'm sure I must have payed a lot more than three bucks! Great Ellington comp and a great price!! Thanks for telling us, bro. Don't taze me.
