I was very pleased with this film as it turned out to be somewhat better than I expected. I'd heard that Sideways was less satirical and more "mainstream" than Payne's other films, so I'd reigned in my expectations a bit. The result was I enjoyed it a Hell of a lot. Now I'm trying to get my wife to go see it. The Giamatti character just seemed normal to me.

I had no idea. My sympathies to all his family and friends.

Yeah, it's cool, but the music is so stiff rhythmically ... I like some stiffness in my pop rhythms...sticks to your ribs. Yum.

Can you recommend some "latter-day Kamuca" albums that are available? (I only have his early stuff.)

Has to be my all-time favorite 8-song pop album. ...And that cover is so cool!

This is terrible, just terrible. Practically the first thing I heard on the news when I got up this morning. What a shock! I'd heard he was going to be working on some new spinoff series, and thought that would be a good retirement job for him, maybe 5 or 10 years depending on how the show went over. I had no idea he had prostate cancer. There's something about Orbach that I've always found very likeable...he's one of those beloved character actors who, when you see them in a movie, it's like spotting an old friend. Damn, damn, DAMN!!! This is the worst.

There's this new jazz book just out called "Weather Bird." It's a collection of essays by this guy Gary Giddins...anyone ever heard of him? Anyway, the book's really great; this guy seems to know what he's talking/writing about. Anyone else checked it out yet? (Don't know why he called it "Weather Bird" though. It doesn't have anything to do with meteorology.)

Excellent album!! I got the Bethlehem issue a while back, and it's a real gem.

You are CORRECT, sir!! Others mileage may vary, but it's my choice for best American animated feature of the 1990's. Let us know what you think!
