  1. OUTSTANDINGLY BLAH!!!! No, seriously, folks, I like some of it just fine. As an album, though, it's no Ready For Freddie.
  2. Like the ultra-weird female backing vocals on some Jackie Wilson sides?
  3. Welcome, Allen! (If we had a handshake smilie, I'd use it.)
  4. If you've got the money, then I say get the CD's (and vinyl) to your heart's content. (Maybe I'm a bad person to ask.)
  5. My kids so far tend to like They Might Be Giants and Fountains of Wayne...do you think I might be influencing them slightly?
  6. Andrew Hill---Black Fire Horace Silver---The Cape Verdean Blues Warne Marsh---All Music Ellington---Festival Session Andrew Hill---Passing Ships
  7. Right on ....though I try to be agnostic on the subject.
  8. MUTE sounds like "mute"---and it ain't moot.
  9. I must admit, they are very good. DAMN good! Yum!!!
  10. My copy arrived yesterday. I've listened to it five times already. I'm about to listen to it again. Thanks for the recommendation, Chuck! Guess I'm gonna have to order it online too.
  11. What a freaking psycho!!!
  12. No more than organ, flute, and 'electric piano' says the same about many jazz albums.
  13. ...the cows come home. No, that isn't right. It ain't Christmas till it snows. I've been waiting awhile.
  14. That Phil Spector song, "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" with Darlene Love on lead vocal. Also A Charlie Brown Christmas and Ellington's Nutcracker Suite. (Hey, I like more Christmas music than I thought!)
  15. "Succotash"?? I grew up in the Northeast, and I don't remember ever seeing it, much less eating it. Your Thanksgiving dinner sounds great though!
  16. Cute! And a very Merry Christmas to you and your family.
  17. I you trying to frighten us?
  18. They both look good to me.
  19. Holy FUCK, man...where did you go? Used CD Heaven?
  20. Actually, he was also just plain frightening.
  21. Well, it didn't happen. So much for that rag, the WSJ. My wife said it was too good to be true.
  22. Do They Might Be Giants count? Seems to me they formed over twenty years ago. But their first album came out in the mid-80's, so maybe one could stretch a point. Don't much care for most modern rock. I like Fountains of Wayne. Other than that....hmmmm....file me under "fuddy duddy." And pass me that Ramones tape. B-)
