  1. Same deal in reverse with The Sidewinder. Billy Higgins eventually settles in quite nicely, or is it Bob Cranshaw that does the settling?
  2. I'd like to hear that! Those TEACs are workhorses, the tube "mod" is really peaking my interest. I really don't need a CD player, purchased a Rega Apollo about 1 1/2 years ago, but...
  3. I just bought one on these last month... Panasonic 42" Plasma I'm very happy with the picture quality. Street price: $1540
  4. The Verve/Philips Dizzy Gillespie Small Group Sessions- Discs 3/4 Fastly becoming my "go to" Mosaic set.
  5. Heard a very interesting discussion with Butch Vig on this very topic a couple of weeks ago on the syndicated radio show Sound Opinions. Follow the link to show #123 below. Butch also had some interesting recollections of working with the "Pumpkins" (#120) Sound Opinions Website
  6. I'd start here... Gabor Szabo- The Sorcerer
  7. I assume that's a take off of The Surf Punks "My Beach"? (My beach, my chicks, my waves, go home!) I've, always liked "Pictures of Matchstick Men" (WTF? )
  8. Not really boogaloo based recs. but they all seriously groove and have a lot of jazz elements... Check out Papo Vazquez, I recommend At The Point V.1 but anything you can get your hands on is well worth checking out. Also, Jerry Gonzalez either solo or with The Fort Apache Band. Try Obatala or Rhumba Para Monk; both are among my favorite Fort Apache Band albums. On the solo Jerry tip try L Los Pirates De Flamenco. FYI, Mike W. is "the man" as well. Good luck!
  9. Audio Samples @ Cryptogramophone Site
  10. I've waffled back and forth a dozen times on "The Complete Miles Davis At Montreux 1973-1991" over the last year, finally bit the bullet today.
  11. Not the best quality, but that's part of the charm... Some Latin Grease- Eddie Palmieri & Charlie Palmieri - Muñeca - 1972
  12. I've had my Keurig machine (B60se) for over a year, no problems makes a very respectable cup of coffee. I use my own favorite coffees with Keurig's reusable coffee filter ($15) and don't go the K-cup route.
  13. Great news! A very "Wes-like" album cover.
  14. Ordered a couple Mosaic sets last Friday... 239-MD-CD LESTER YOUNG 234-MD-CD DIZZY GILLESPIE Good Friday indeed!
  15. This looks like a very good product (at least on paper) from a well respected digital audio company. Wadia iTransport
  16. Pretty nice guitar work in this video. Hank "done" studied his Steely Dan solos. Nice guitar as well. Hank Easton Steely Dan Guitar Solo Medley
  17. I just received this album and like it just fine after my initial listen. Stefano is a very fine player, I'm interested in anything he does.
  18. Taj Mahal, Professor Longhair, The Meters...
  19. Maceo Interview

    Ralph Towner

A true original, one of my favorite guitarists. Was just listening to Time Line a couple of days ago. I like everything I've ever heard. His solo disc Ana doesn't get mentioned very much; I think it's quite good. Sage Brush Rider is a trip!
  21. Thanks. I recorded the show so I'll probably give it another shot. I thought the band was a bit underrehearsed. It probably didn't help that Robert Plant had nothing interesting to say whatsoever during the interview snippets. He came off a bit full of himself; which in retrospect did turn me off.
  22. Saw the Plant/Krauss Crossroads concert special the other night. I couldn't of been more bored. Too bad, I was really looking forward to hearing this music. I assume the album is more or less the same as this performance?
  23. The Vermeer Quartet performances of Bartok on Naxos are excellent. Easily recommended.
