Nice list. Consider adding:
- More "Atlantic" era Coltrane
- More "Milestone" and "Impulse" era Tyner
- Seems like you would enjoy some Deep Blue Organ Trio (Deep Blue Bruise, Goin To Town)
- Paul Motian
- Dave Holland (Start with his latest and work backward. It's as good a plan as any, he's been on quite a roll)
- Jonas Kullhammar (Get the trio stuff with Daniel Fredriksson and Torbjorn Zetterberg)
This week it's got to be Fredriksson, Kullhammar & Zetterberg's version of "Inchworm" from, Gyldene Tider Vol.2. The extended drum opening sets up a nice groove for Jonas to go nuts over. Fun stuff!
Very interesting discussion about this movie with the director. Fairly low budget movie, not too surprised the locals missed the action.
Darren Aronofsky on NPR's Fresh Air
Listened to Malcolm Braff's my space stuff. I'm sold, emusic has a number of his albums available. I'll have to check out the Vallon as well. Thanks.
P.S. Braff looks like Hermeto Pascoal's younger brother in that picture.
Lot's of stuff in this thread, and not just Herbie. Herbie: The Funk Period
Charles Earland's Black Talk was the first thing to come to mind. The second was Grant Green's Live At The Lighthouse.
Muddy Waters "Clouds in My Heart" from the album King Bee.
Hard to understand why this song was not part of the original release. It's the best thing on the album AFAIC. The way the band plays off Muddy's lyrics is tremendous. Real blues, real good!
