    Charlie Haden

Up... Been really digging Charlie's playing with Paul Motian on the first couple "On Broadway" releases. A match made in jazz heaven.
  2. There was a story about this a couple of weeks ago on NPR. Here's a summary of what it's all about. Zenph Re-Performance
  3. plus some cash for a '52 Tele reissue this afternoon. That should fix the gear jones for now. I have a bunch of EQ I should trade or sell... My 52' tele reissue was been sitting in it's case for the last 3 years until last week. Dusted it off, put some new strings on it, and used it at an open jam last weekend. Should of done this sooner! Great guitar which I've been ignoring for too long. Please post your thoughs on the new axe when you get a chance.
  4. I nearly bought this today. It was 6 bucks on vinyl. How is it? Stellar! Talk about your natural soul...
  5. At least your in good company. It all probably started with Bix & Tram and has been going on ever since. Can't please everybody. Especially the ignorant, racially-minded "fu@K heads" out there walking the earth.
  6. Thanks for posting. Adding this one towards the top of the list.
  7. Looks like some of this concert will see the light of the day... KB's 75th Birthday Bash Live!
  8. FYI... VH1 Classic has been showing the "Genesis Movie" lately (flashback to the midnight movie days ). I haven't seen this in many years. I caught a bit of it yesterday (actually early this morning). Some good Hackett and Bruford. As a matter of fact the whole band is quite good. Even Phil's tambourine "thing" is still pretty cool after all these years.
  9. I've been thinking about buying the "Shakti Box" for quite some time. I have a couple of the titles already, but I'll probably just trade them or give them away when I do pull the trigger on the boxset.
  10. Thanks very much. Another time around the sun indeed!
  11. The Muddy Waters Chess Box comes to mind. The first disc featuring 1947-1954 vintage recordings is hard to beat. Even by Muddy himself.

    Stanley Clarke

Some really nice Patrice Rushen on the recent Santana/Shorter release. A nice surprise for me as well.
  13. Santana III (Deluxe Version) is another high watermark in Santana's catalog. Some real progressive latin grooves happening on this one. The bonus material is really very good.
  14. This is one of those rare albums that demands to be actively listened to from start to finish. To me, it's one big piece of music that flows perfectly from moment to moment. It's almost impossible to put on a song or two for casual listening. The album still defies categorization 35 years down the road. Great choice. P.S. It's an over simplification for sure, but Michael Shrieve can lock up with a latin rhythm section like no one else. He's so sympathetic, always listening. Probably my favorite drummer period.
  15. $3.49 (f#*k me!)
  16. My current setup... - Outlaw Audio RR2150 Receiver - Rega Apollo CD player - Sony DVP NS500V Universal Player (SACD/DVD playback) - Mac Mini (for digital music via USB input on receiver) - B&W DM602 S3 bookshelf speakers - Music Hall MMF-7 w/Goldring Eroica Cartridge I'm probably going to add a REL sub at some point this year. But I'm in no hurry I really enjoy my current set up.
  17. There is also some good "Muddy" circa 73' or 74' if IIRC.
  18. That "Miles" is new to the site this week. Got to give it a listen.
  19. The Atlantic New Orleans Jazz Sessions (Mosaic)
  20. This outake is currently up on their site. Interesting... CAbP- Zambi (uncensored) CAbP Homepage Edited in include link to homepage.
  21. if he goes to childress, they own the number 3. "Little 3" I like the ring of it.
  22. Saw about 40 minutes of this documentary last night. Lot's of great interviews with Ahmet, as well as a who's who of rock royalty. Well worth checking out IMO. Check your local listings...
  23. I got bumped up to $6.99 about three weeks ago.
  24. IMO, one of the better releases of the year so far.
