  1. Go figure? Looks pretty interesting though. Plant/Krauss "Raising Sand"
  2. I think I may have posted this before. These guys have new release promised for later this year. Can't wait! Stefan Lievestro 6
  3. Herbie Nichols- The Complete Blue Note Recordings
  4. Things that I've been meaning to get for quite some time... Daddy Bug/Virgo Vibes: Roy Ayers Complex: Jack DeJohnette Gnu High: Kenny Wheeler Spaces: Larry Coryell Magical Shepherd: Miroslav Vitous
  5. I'm pretty sure these were all hits... Rock The Casbah (The Clash) Cars (Gary Numan) Overkill (Men At Work) Cult Of Personality (Living Colour) Sorry- Had to go with four.
  6. Holy sh$t. I didn't realize this was upcoming!
  7. Samuel Smith Pure Brewed Lager
  8. ...true beauty is often disguised by our own prejudice.
  9. The musical footage was obviously great. I found the actual story of the day-to-day business operations and dealings (coupled with the integration angle) to be equally fascinating. A fine well balanced documentary.
  10. I couldn't find any mention of this so at the risk of being redundant... The Stax Records Story
  11. A few of my favorite things... Beer- Fairly self-explanatory. Although, I find having a truly awful beer every once in a while, helps to reset the taste "buds" (pun intended). Backpacks- The new briefcase. Gloves- I'll gladly pay for protection and comfort. Guitar Cords- Must be German Shepard proof! Shoes- Same as above goes for shoes. (recent ecco convert) Wallets- A cheapie just won't last long enough to allow for full appreciation of the well worn "broke in" variety.
  12. Mostly quiet, sparse, romantic, and whimsical in nature with a few "jagged" pieces throw in for a change of pace. Reminiscent of Miles and Bill Evans without being too derivative. I enjoy it.
  13. Kind of a mixed bag today... Caine, Uri : Bedrock 3 Caine, Uri : Blue Wail Sam & Dave : Definitive Soul Mingus, Charles : Tijuana Moods Pieranunzi, Enrico : Live In Japan Rudd, Roswell : El Spirito Jibaro
  14. Thanks for the additional insight/background. I'm going to order this one. CDU description below... Personnel: Yomo Toro (cuatro); Roswell Rudd (trombone). Additional personnel: Marciela Serrano, Dalia Silva, Michelle Silva, Alessandra Belloni (vocals); David Oquendo (tres); Ilmar Gavillan, Alicia Svigal (violin); Jay Collins (flute); Raul Jaurena (bandoneon); Gene Jefferson, Peter Brainin (alto saxophone); John Walsh, Mike Rodriguez (trumpet); Chris Washburne (trombone); Yeissonn Villamar, George Cables, Igor Atalita (piano); John DiMartino (organ); Alex Hernandez, Jorge Longo, Andy Eulau, Boris Kozlov (acoustic bass); Donald 'Spider' Nicks (electric bass); Wilson 'Chembo' Corniel (congas); Bobby Sanabria (bongos); Hiram 'El Pavo' Remon (percussion); Acension. Inside-outside trombonist Roswell Rudd turns in an eclectic and exciting album with 2007's EL ESPIRITU JIBARO. The music leans toward Latin styles--with cumbia, tango, merengue, and mambo all represented--and the instrumentation, which includes cuarto (played by Yomo Toro), also reflects the overall vibe. But, as fans of Rudd would expect, there are plenty of curveballs, as EL ESPIRITU JIBARO folds in traditional jazz, free tendencies, and witty, clever flourishes to this fun recording full of great playing and top-notch ensemble work.

  16. Anyone hear this yet? Looks very interesting.
  17. Take Me To The River
  18. Chicken & Sausage Jambalaya with homemade cornbread, applesauce, and a Czech pilsner to be named later.
  19. It's a bit weird... I used to love Stanko, saw him three times with this trio, but last time it was pretty mediocre... the trio was great but sounded awful (cheapo drumset, not the club that is to blame, rather the Miskiewicz' bad-sounding cymbals, I think)... anyway, the trio on its own then I don't find as interesting as when they're backing Stanko... too restrained, too pop-like (EST, yuck... how boring!). Anyway, the disc isn't bad but it's ECM and hence it's a far cry from what they do in a live situation... Find an earlier discussion >> here << Thanks. I appreciate the feedback and the link. Suspected as much with respect to the pop orientation of the material. I'll probably pick it up sooner or later.
  20. Anyone have the Marcin Wasilewski Trio CD? I like his work with Tomasz Stanko very much, but have yet to hear this album.
  21. Finally broke down and got this one...
  22. Cheers! Have a fine day!
  23. Not necessarily a compliment but good news none the less.
