  1. Do the right thing. But decide what that is first. Proper is doing absolutely nothing that the laws of their country prohibit. We've been through this so many times in so many threads lately. The box is an excellent value, but I find the later Atlantic recordings more to my liking. It was just a good natured nudge. I certainly agree, no need to whip a dead horse. By all means get the music, its essential.
  2. Clever idea for the bass line on the "A" section of Caravan (I may have to cop that ). All in all a nice rendition. Looking forward to hearing the finished product.
  3. Do the right thing.
  4. Before you pull that trigger take close look at Outlaw Audio's 2 channel receiver ($599). It's got a great mix of useful features including a USB input, phono section, ipod jack, and their award winning bass managent circuitry (especially useful if you want to add a sub). To my ears Rotel's equipment has always been rather harsh and clinical sounding (of course that's just my opinion). Don't be turned off by the fact that Outlaw's equipment is available exclusively online. These guys make a high quality, bang for your buck product, and really care about good sound. Their customer service is a model for the industry. Good luck and happy shopping!
  5. I'd buy that set.
  6. The Bears are the best coached team in the NFL and they have two weeks to prepare. They might have a chance, you never know!
  7. I broke down this weekend as well and bought the 80gb video model. Loaded 22gb worth of music on it yesterday.

    T Bone Walker

I'll pile on and third the recommendation for T Bone Blues. Junior Wells also appears on a couple of cuts, which is always a plus. You might also want to check out "Very Rare" which has it's moments.
  9. Don't you mean output doesn't match talent? I've seen him a few times, the last time being in support of the album There & Back (eons ago). He was always excellent. I remember him closing one of those shows with a jaw-dropping version of Rice Pudding. One of my favorite fist-pumping metal moments. Regarding Elton & Rod, I can't get past about 1980 with either one. I still listen to Tumble Weed Connection & Honky Chateau and assorted early Rod/Faces every once in a while. Didn't Rod and Elton somehow both get their starts with/through the efforts of Long John Baldry?
  10. You have to be a member to listen but it's free! Stevie Wonder Berkeley Community Theatre 1973
  11. Columbia Small Group Swing Sessions 1953-1962
  12. That's more or less my intended use. Early in the morning for a couple of hours each day while checking email and performing the more mundane tasks at hand before my day really gets started. Thanks.
  13. I would check out the new Rega Saturn CD player. At $2395 US dollars it might be a little out of your friends price range, but $2395 qualifies as about 2K in my book. Rega Saturn
  14. Looking to upgrade from the standard issue ipod earphones. How do you like these after a few months use? Still favorable?
  15. Just picked this one up from Sundazed
  16. Biggest disappointment for me lately was Lonnie Smith's Jungle Soul. I will pretty buy anything with Peter Berstein on it, but he is totally unnecessary to this release, he sounds cliched, and uninspired on this album.
  17. OK fair enough, but have heard the album? IMO it really is quite inspired, and there's nothing even remotely commercial about the music.

  20. Everybody's singing it...
  21. This could be interesting. Liebman- Back On The Corner
  22. I picked this one up during the Tower liquidation. Have yet to give it a spin.
  23. Yeah, but if you buy them separately, and not in the box, you miss the extras disc. Besides, $175 is still way too much. Prices are a joke in general for this stuff, and I'm not interested enough at this point to buy any of them. Just thought I'd post that as an option for those who are. Phil's divorce must have been real nasty!
  24. Genesis SACD/DVDs for preorder at music direct. First 5 for $175. GENESIS PREORDER
