  1. I'm off in 2 hours. I've decided I'm going to do absolutely nothing this weekend but listen to music and read. Gonna open a bottle of wine as soon as I get home. Enjoy the weekend, all!
  2. Agreed. Denzel is always better when he pushes it a bit like in "Malcolm X" and "Training Day". His performance as Frank Lucas, while fine and all, didn't seem like it required much effort from him. He was a good choice to play the role, though. The casting in this film was very well done. Ruby Dee stole the show as Mrs. Lucas. edit because I can't spell today
  3. I saw it. Its definitely not bad, and is fairly entertaining. However, the entire time I was watching it, I kept thinking to myself how it had all the ingredients to be a really great film, but ended up being just a good one. Something was missing. edit for spelling
  4. Highly recommended.
  5. My bad! Obviously I haven't been keeping up with reissues as much as of late...
  6. Some previous discussion here... http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...mp;hl=Radiohead
  7. Backordered!!
  8. Getting to reading your post somewhat late, md655321, but thanks for the recs! I will check these out. I am really digging Spoon. Finally got "Alligator" by The National. Excellent. They have become one of my favorite bands. Another new one I've been digging is "The Shepherd's Dog" by Iron and Wine.
  9. Wow....they won 8-0!!! Pretty amazing.
  10. Liverpool is starting to look a bit more like themselves in today's match. They're up 2-0 against Besiktas in the first half. Some great goals by Crouch and Benayoun.
  11. That unedited cut of "One and One" has to be one of the nastiest grooves I've ever heard....great stuff. I'm loving this set.
  12. This is also one of my all time favorites. Like I'm sure it was for many more folks, it was one of the first jazz albums I heard early on that really blew my mind. It was my first time experiencing that openness created by the lack of a piano, and I've always favored piano-less jazz saxophone recordings ever since. This trio just really digs in, swings hard, and makes some tremendously exciting and timeless music. BTW, I really don't think that this album would have worked nearly as well had they not brought Elvin aboard. This is just one more testament to his greatness and shows how he always elevated the greatest artists to an even higher level.
  13. Yeah, but this is the best packaging of all the boxes. The embossed characters are a riot!
  14. Love this one!
  15. Just ordered both. They release here in the USA on Tuesday, Nov. 6.
  16. Little Reds Fantasy
  17. Some fun Champions League action this week. The Barca/Rangers draw was a pretty exciting match. Leo Messi is already talking shit saying the Rangers play "anti-football"! But regardless, Rangers are still up there. Will be interesting to see how that group turns out. Liverpool can't seem to catch a break either. This weekend's EPL match between Chelsea and Manchester City should be fun.
  18. Damn, this set is NICE!!!!
  19. 'Horizon' gets a big from me. Me too! Love it.
  20. Got mine. GREAT packaging! Definitely my favorite of the Miles sets in that dept. Can't wait to start listening.
  21. I've got all the single CD reissues....they are among the true treasures of my collection.
  22. Almost always English, but when I've been in Mexico for over a week and have only spoken Spanish the entire time, I start to think and dream in Spanish as well.
  23. OK, I have marked you down as such a person. You can mark me down as a person who believes that it is not inappropriate to have homosexual heroes in children's literature. For goodness' sake. Children live in the real world. They know full well that unmarried people have sex, including, for a great number of them, their parents, their grandparents, their siblings, their uncles and aunts and cousins. So literature should pretend that this is not so? There's a word for an approach like that, GA: dishonesty. You would have children be introduced to literature through literature that denies reality--a fine way to lead them to distrust and disregard literature from the very start.
  24. The only way I'd go to one is with the intention to piss him off so much he would storm off in a huff and refuse to return. It would be the best I'd ever heard from him. Wow....you don't even like Fort Yawuh?
  25. Thanks for the report, Eric. I always seem to have something going on whenever these guys come into town. Really hope to see them sometime soon....they are two of the most exciting guys around.
