  1. They didn't know what to do once Wayne started digging in.
  2. Yoshi's Saturday, Playboy Sunday.
  3. SNES. Still. I've still got mine in my bedroom and working perfectly. Alot of the battery packs on the cartridges have lost their ability to save games, which makes some games like Final Fantasy II and Actraiser difficult to play, but its still fun as hell. On the modern side of gaming, I'm really leaning towards getting a Wii as well. I think I'm gonna give the PS3 6-8 months to see how it does, and then I'll make a final decision.
  4. Yes. Finger Poppin and Blowin' the Blues Away are really special in my book because, among other things, they have Louis Hayes on the drums. There was nothing incompetent about Roy Brooks by any means, but those two studio sessions with Hayes on drums are my favorite Silver. They swing like mad.
  5. Wow....good thing they let Scott Hamilton go first.
  6. Count me in as a fan of Horace, particularly the BN stuff. I've spun "Finger poppin'" and the Blakey Cafe Bohemia stuff in the past week. Silver was such a funky pianist...nobody sounds like him.
  7. I'll have to add this one to my "wish list"! I dig Tom's recordings quite a bit. "Labyrinth" is my favorite. And happy birthday wishes to Mr. Harrell as well.
  8. Here's the full image. Sorry its so small.
  9. I'm sorry, but I'm having bad luck finding the image I'm trying to find... The cover posted above is only the front flap. When its folded out, it shows not only Harry looking up, but Voldermart is standing next to him and looking up as well, and they both seem to be gesturing to some unknown source. If I can find an image, I'll post it.
  10. Judging by the cover of the book, I'm predicting that there will be a THIRD force in the book, and that Voldemort and Harry will have to team up to destroy it.
  11. I'm not a fan of Christian McBride's recordings, but I've seen him live before and he's a fine straight ahead jazz bassist. I think he'll sound good with Sonny. Plus, he has alot of experience playing with Roy Haynes. They have good chemistry together.
  12. The edited swears are horrible, and even worse is the complete ommission of the sudden violence and the sex scenes. Not only are they fun to watch, but they add lots of dramatic impact to the story.
  13. While this is definitely better than not watching it at all, I'd highly recommend that if you enjoy the show, that you seek them out on DVD. A&E has edited the shit out of the episodes, and what you are seeing on A&E is really not the way they are meant to be seen.
  14. Not a huge fan, but "Now He Sings, Now He Sobs" is one of my favorite piano trio recordings. Its rare to hear a group of musicians not only so inspired, but working on such a high level of interactivity.
  15. Those black squirrels in Michigan are pretty cool, I must admit.
  16. Not my favorite Hill session, but I really dig it.
  17. Buy a turtle and feed them to the turtle.
  18. Its one of my top 5 Jackie McLean sessions, and I hold his BN catalogue in an extremely high regard. Its some of my favorite music. Anyways, don't mean to hijack the thread. Woody Shaw sounds excellent on this one.
  19. Yeah, Demon's Dance is insanely good!
  20. I have a good feeling about Moss on the Pats. Preliminary reports say he's doing really well at the workouts, and seems happy. Someone on the team (forgot who) said that he's running just like he did when he was on the Vikings. He probably knows that is gonna be his last chance to do something great, so I think he's gonna come to play. The thought of Moss, Stolworth and Welker all out there has to frighten every defense they come across.
  21. I think the Pats are gonna be freakin' awesome this season. They really have a dynamic group of receives that can literally do it all, and if last year was any indication, Maroney will end up being one of the most effective backs in the league if he stays healthy. Their defense, while not great, should be solid enough to hold opponents below the ridiculous amounts of points the Pats should be putting up. Assuming everyone stays healthy, I'm guessing they'll be the top team in the league.
  22. If you don't have this music already, get this set!!
  23. His "Live" albums on High Note are excellent and all worth acquiring.
  24. To my ears, Golson is a great classic jazz composer, where Shorter was a great progressive jazz composer. Hard to say which is better...guess it depends on what type of jazz you prefer. I reach for Shorter's stuff more often, but I love Golson as well.
