  1. This is the one match up that had me mildy worried at one point, but now has me much more worried given the fact that the Bears don't have Mike Brown in the lineup. It will be tough for them to stop Brady in shotgun with all those receivers everywhere.
  2. I haven't been this excited about a Mosaic project in quite some time. Looking forward to ordering it eventually.
  3. What the hell, Mark....why do you always have to piss in the punch bowl??
  4. Hot damn, the Bears are something. They are kicking the shit of the 49ers. Not that that's a difficult feat, but this team really does look good. The offense is so much more composed, and the defense, like always, is just everywhere. To those of you in the Northeast.....BEWARE!!! The Monsters of the Midway will be heading your way soon!
  5. I'm guessing youtube wouldn't be a bad place to start.
  6. Herbie Hancock - "Big Cantaloupes"
  7. There have been previous threads about this topic. If I remember correctly, the opinions regarding this set were quite positive. I never heard the second set covering Coltrane's music, but I quite enjoyed the first one where they did Ornette's. They were very creative with the arrangements and did a fine job re-interperting the songs.
  8. Exact same situation here. I really like this band and would like to have the multiple disc sets, but you can only charge so much for CDs in my opinion. Edit: Just checked the price....$35 for two discs. Damn.
  9. Yes! Must get this one. Do you have the Village Vanguard stuff?
  10. The Mosaic set is excellent. Lots of good stuff on there. And though I'm not the biggest soul jazz fan, I really like "Hustlin'"
  11. One of my absolute favorite Mosaics. Go for it!
  12. Aside from several mentioned and ones you own, these were some of my early favorites: Wayne Shorter - "Speak No Evil" Charles Mingus - "Blues and Roots" Sonny Rollins - "Saxophone Colossus" Lee Morgan - "The Sidewinder" Art Blakey - "Moanin' " Welcome to the board, and enjoy this time in your life, as the early days of discovering jazz are among the best times you'll ever have!
  13. Patrick, I did not. Last night was my first time seeing them, and I certainly hope its not the last.
  14. The quartet absolutely killed it tonight in Chicago! One of the finest, most refreshing jazz shows I've seen in a while. Get out and see them if you get the chance!
  15. I personally don't think "That Certain Feeling" is worth $44.
  16. Let me say this.....tonight, Monday October 16th, there is no better place to be than the great city of Chicago. DA BEARS!!!
  17. Cool!!
  18. Crater Lake is incredible. Like J Larsen says, there are so many nice spots in Oregon...and throughout that region in general. My dream is to own a home from where I can see Mt. Hood.
  19. Man, what a nail biter! I'm so happy they won. I can't stand the Eagles.
  20. For all you Tati fans, Criterion has finally re-issued "Playtime".
  21. I've been quite lucky as well. I traveled throughout the United States about 4 years ago after quitting a job and still getting a severance package out of it (long story). The United States is truly a beautiful country. The only places I have not been to are the New England area, Alaska and Hawaii. My goal is to one day move to Oregon. Definitely my favorite state. The Pacific Northwest is the most beautiful place in the world to me.
  22. As do I.
  23. According to the article in today's Chicago Tribune, it was the live debut of the song. Sounded great too. I'm surprised it was never in the repertoire before.
  24. Saw the Stones Wednesday night at Soldier Field. The wind chill was down to about 20 degrees, and there were wind gusts up to 35mph, but that didn't matter. They opened with "You Got Me Rocking", and debuted "She Was Hot"! There was an excellent "Midnight Rambler" followed by "Tumbling Dice". Great show!
  25. "Monk's Music". A absolute classic. Also get "Thelonious Monk and John Coltrane".
