I don't know if I'd go as far as calling Man in the High Castle overrated (though I think I'm about to... ), and I certainly wouldn't call it "shrug-inducing", but it sure feels more tightly controlled than most of Dick's work. Too tightly perhaps.

Finally saw it tonight. I'm not exactly sure why, but I left the theater distinctly unimpressed. Quite a few interesting parts (largely with Ledger, of course), but nothing that added up to a complete "good movie". I kept getting the feeling that it would have been so much better if they had just left Batman out of the damned thing...

I think that was probably the thing that drove me away from Olympic coverage. All the coverage slanted to the USA, the obsession with medal counts over individual effort. And, at the risk of having Berigan bring up terms like "hate America crowd", that obnoxious "USA USA" chant drives me up the frickin' wall...

Of course, after showing my disdain for this phony event, it would be unthinkable to actually watch any of it, but if I had seen any of it, I think I would have just said "Holy shit...these women badminton players play the game like the shuttlecock is a handgrenade about to go off any minute!"

Please, no more 'dead at fifty' stories until next year. And no 'dead at fifty-one' stories then... Being terminally unhip, I have no idea who Bernie Mac is, but damn....fifty? That's sad no matter who it is.
