  1. Have to see what’s on it.
  2. One sold on eBay in April for $150 so go figure.
  3. On eBay, it’s an option in the filters. You can see completed items (which includes unsold) and sold items. The info on sold items doesn’t stay there forever, maybe three months. If you don’t keep an eye on it you can miss deals. Not that long ago I purchased the Woody Shaw for $50.
  4. The market has been soft for a very long time. I can’t speak to vinyl boxes but the Cole and the Ferguson boxes are the most expensive. Although already covered, when determining price (and this applies to anything), you need to look at prices paid, not prices asked; anybody can set a price as high as they wish. Realizing it is another story.
  5. I recently read “Company of Heroes: Personal Memories About the Real Band of Brothers and the Legacy They Left Us,” interviews with and recollections by family members about their relative who had served in Easy Company and some of them had difficult lives after WW II: divorce, heavy drinking, PTSD and so forth.
  6. This is a Third Man pressing and the sound is fine but not audiophile I’d say. I used to have the Verve LPR that they reissued probably about 20 years ago but somehow lost it or something. Coleman is not on a par with Jimmy Smith or any organ master but I still like it. It’s a good organ date.
  7. We have four cats and I don’t think they care about music. What they care about is their next meal.
  8. Some lime Zero Dust by Oznow.
  9. I was going to say Vanguard but John beat me to it.
  10. Great article. Thank you very much!
  11. I want to read that one. Yes, Bowman had a large role in the series.
  12. Interesting although whether CBS committed tortious acts was not the subject of the decision which only talked about the removability of the case from state to federal court, a concept which may just be a feature of common law. Robert Gordon has written a well received book about Stax which I’ve ordered. Al Bell blames the demise all on CBS but I’m not sure that’s a completely balanced view. Some things I’ve seen suggest that was just part of the problem.
  13. Screwed over by big corporations although the first time Stewart should have read the contract or had a lawyer do so, which he obviously didn’t have. However, it’s a great documentary, very well done.
  14. I had trouble with the book too but I want to give it another try. I wouldn’t say it didn’t have enough substance.
  15. Some of Babs’s material wouldn’t fly today but that is a-ok.
  16. Just finished this incredible book about a French writer who tries to find out about a postcard that her mother receives that lists the names of her relatives who died in the Holocaust.
  17. You know it’s already been issued, right?
  18. I was planning on ordering this but I see that I have about half the albums on cd and since Bobby Hutcherson isn’t someone I play a lot, I’m going to pass, for now anyway.
  19. It’s rather surprising for a major course of action to be approved by a bare majority. One of my responsibilities was to prepare and keep the corporate minutes for our company and its subsidiaries (around 150) and nothing was ever passed that was less than unanimous.
