  1. The issue of copyright and what is or is not in the public domain seems to come up with some regularity. Here is a recent article on what is now in the public domain as George Gershwin's composition "Rhapsody in Blue," along with most other works that were first published in 1924, entered the public domain in the U.S. See The Murkiness of the Public Domain Here is a handy checklist that is cited at the end of the article: Copyright Term and the Public Domain in the United States
  2. I decided to pass on the set and cancelled the pre-order. I have all of the single cds and frankly don’t listen to a lot of them, except Dippin and NRFS, and haven’t in years so I didn’t see the necessity of duplication.
  3. Yes. There was a thread about it.
  4. No one said you had to.
  5. Yes, he was booted but why I don’t know. However, he’s on Facebook and you can find him there.
  6. Congratulations. Your job sounds very difficult. If you don’t have one, I recommend a good investment advisor.
  7. One of my favorites, from when it first came out.
  8. My girlfriend in freshman year was a big fan and we listened to her a lot. Unfortunately, that relationship didn’t end well and I haven’t listened to her much since then. I saw she died in 97, which I didn’t know. The cause was ovarian cancer and she was only 50. What a shame. A lot late but RIP.
  9. Yes, but we’re talking about less than a week so I think you need to wait another week.
  10. I was at the movies tonight and they showed coming attractions for a movie based on the novel, coming out in February.

    Jimmy Smith

I wouldn’t consider recordings like Trio 64 or Conversations with Myself watered down at all.

    The Haig

Part 3 about The Haig was posted in late December. http://jazzwestcoastresearch.blogspot.com/
  13. You weren't thinking of his Jazz West Coast Research blog were you, because that's on Blogspot.
  14. Hard to understand why this hasn’t been digitally released.
  15. That is a weird one, even for NY.
  16. Pretty neat that you were able to hang out with him. I agree that it’s a little sloppy or maybe just as good as their studio performances, e.g., White Rabbit. For some reason I don’t have Pointed Little Head. Probably had it at some point years ago.
  17. Sorry to hear. I wonder if we will ever conquer the scourge of cancer.
