  1. I agree with Felser. Do it here. I’ve done it on eBay as well and listing them on eBay and shipping them depends on a lot of factors such as how much time you have, patience and so forth. Not everyone wants to do that. Because there are so many CDs listed on eBay or Discogs, you need to be patient as they may take awhile to sell. I had listed a bunch of CDs here. A few sold but many didn’t. I listed a few on eBay and some sold but due to the amount of money I would receive, the time involved in listing and shipping, I eventually wound up selling the remainder to Princeton Record Exchange. Yes, not much return but just glad to get rid of them Once I sell something, it’s out of sight, out of mind so I don’t regret anything I’ve sold, especially if you need the room.
  2. Not sure this is the right forum for this but here are several articles published by Rolling Stone on the 50th anniversary. Woodstock at 50
  3. Strange story. Must have been some powerful stuff.

My mother knew her (although they were not close friends) when they both attended Julia Richman HS in New York.
  5. Here is an interview that Bob Boilen of NPR did with Andy Zak, who produced the 50th Anniversary set, as well as the 40th. Great stuff. NPR Interview - Andy Zak
  6. Some great music. Yeah, those times were special. The anniversary brings it all back.
  7. I haven’t listened to them in god knows when but I remember Pacific Gas and Electric as being very good.
  8. Yes, I might be too hard on Melanie , especially as she was summoned into action before she was supposed to go on. Eke BBB, I'm taking the concert in order. Revelations so far to me are Bert Sommer and Ravi Shankar. I've heard some of Shankar's stuff before but the one cut on the disc was beyond amazing. A real shame that Bert Sommer died so young.
  9. Disc 1 yesterday and Disc 2 today. Listening to Melanie reminds me why I was never a big fan.
  10. I like some of her stuff.
  11. Watching this last night, some parts made me laugh but I’m sure it was no laughing matter to the residents of Haight Ashbury.
  12. For those who may be interested, WXPN, the radio station of the University of Pennsylvania, www.xpn.org, is presenting the Woodstock concert: "Over three days, we’ll play newly reconstructed audio archives of each of Woodstock’s 32 performances, from Richie Havens’ opening set to Jimi Hendrix’s closing one and everything in between, in as close to real time as possible. From Thursday, August 15 at 5:07 p.m. through Sunday morning, tune in to hear the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and so many more — just as they sounded in 1969 during the weekend that would shape a generation." 13. Haven’t listened to this in years.
  14. It's hard to resist any of Resonance's reissues.
  15. This is a terrific review that appeared in All About Jazz. The writer, John Kelman, focuses primarily on the 10 cd box. In his intro, he goes over the problems fixed in Back to the Garden and so forth. He then goes over each artist, the songs they sung and the ones that appear in the 10cd set, as well as talking about each artist before and after Woodstock. It’s a long article, around 17,000 words. Various Artists: Woodstock—Back To The Garden: 50th Anniversary Experience
  16. This article about the Woodstock brand is rather interesting, even though it’s 10 years old. However, it doesn’t answer the royalty question. 40 years later, Woodstock a thriving business
  17. $375 is worth approximately $2,700 in today’s dollars, not a lot.
  18. I find reviews helpful, especially because I'm running out of room, but to each his own. I don't know if you saw this article but I thought it was pretty good. Deep Dive: Giving Pianist George Shearing His Proper Due, With a Look Beyond ‘Lullaby’
  19. My Mother said I never could have been a hippie or lived on a commune as I liked a shower every day
  20. I guess only a lawyer would care about this but I wonder if they shared the royalties from the film and record/cd packages. I presume the artists retained the rights to the songs they sang at Woodstock, but what about the CDs being put out by the individual artists. Do they have to give the promoters a cut. Perhaps somebody knows.
  21. What’s your opinion of the Shearing disc? A review I read wasn’t complimentary.
  22. The great unwashed.
  23. For those with access to the print edition of the Times, there is a special pullout section in Sunday’s paper that is pretty nice.
