I’m listening to the Mosaic Basie and Lester Young Studio sessions. I suppose that means going forward we won’t see Sony license any sets like that?

It’s 10 years for $300 Million with an opt out after 5 years.

War and Peace, the opus by Sergei Bondarchuk, has been digitally restored to its original seven hour length and is currently being shown at Lincoln Center, but only through Thursday. A release by Criterion is planned. A Peerless ‘War and Peace’ Film Is Restored to Its Former Glory I look forward to the eventual release.

Although I initially intended to pre-order this set, I'm heading to the fence as I have all the individual CDs and I'm not sure I need another box set, not to mention that I tend to listen to his earlier work more than later recordings.

This is a shock but a surprisingly nice one
