  1. Do they own it or rent it? I'd be surprised if they own it; ties up a lot of capital.
  2. I live about an hour and a half away and will be going. However, this I worrisome. Obviously, they need to raise cash.
  3. Haven't tackled it yet but thanks for the heads up. About halfway through this.
  4. Curtis Amy, Pacific Jazz Piano Trios and one I’d never thought I’d like, the Boogie Woogie set.
  5. Thanks. Enjoyed it.
  6. Thank you Dan. His memory lives on.
  7. I looked at this issue a few years ago. Traditionally, those rights died with the person but in recent years a few states have extended those rights to their legal representatives. One that comes to mind is Tennessee because of the Elvis Presley Estate.
  8. If the brewery didn’t have the right to us Monk’s likeness, I fail to see how they can prevail.
  9. I read the interview and I didn’t see anything referring to Billy Byers.
  10. Sounds interesting. I’ve picked up Mary Beard’s SPQR but haven’t tackled it yet.
  11. Had no problems at all.
  12. The Post Office Girl is like two different novels and the view is that it’s incomplete. It was found among his papers after he committed suicide. It’s not my favorite Zweig book but it’s not bad.
  13. I recently finished Chris Matthews' book on RFK. Bobby was always a hero of mine but because of his death I've always had trouble reading anything about his campaign. It's a very good book and well written. I've ordered Arthur Schlesinger's book, which is a classic account. Had it years ago but will give it another try. I also finished LeCarre's Legacy of Spies last week; it's sort of a retrospective and a sequel. That has led me to re-read The Spy Who Came in From the Cold, although I couldn't find my original copy. All the new editions of his books have introductions by LeCarre, an added bonus.
  14. All the beers in the list are awful. All their advertising won’t help them.
  15. I received this yesterday and enjoying it quite a bit.
  16. Thanks for this. Just ordered it.
  17. I’m sorry to hear this. Many years ago I sold him or he sold me a cd on eBay and I asked him if he ever checked out the Forum. He wasn’t aware of it but became a strong contributor.
  18. I just read the article quickly and the book is richer in detail and you learn a lot more about The Odyssey than you do the article. That being said, if you don’t want to read The Odyssey or learn more about it, the article is sufficient and it’s a great article in and of itself. On the other hand, reading the book has motivated me to learn more about Ancient Greece.
  19. You try to remember the anniversary of their births but to wish someone Happy Birthday who has been dead for several years is odd, in my opinion. When I think of my Father, who died in 1976, on his birthday, I sometimes think how old he would be that day or say to myself, "today is Dad's birthday," but to say Happy Birthday would seem peculiar and foreign. I also remember when he passed away (unexpectedly).
  20. Yeah, this is to die for
  21. Following up on Mendelsohn's An Odyssey, I have now started Emily Wilson's new translation. I'm also reading I'm a big fan of Magda Szabo.
  22. I may be in for the Oscars.
