Here's an article from MLB about Gordon, http://m.mlb.com/news/article/160176632/making-sense-of-alex-gordons-suitors I heard an interview on MLB Radio with Mike Moustakas last week where he called Gordon the team leader and really wanted him back.

I read somewhere that KC believes that Gordon will not return as he's reportedly asking for $20 M per year. In the new year, Denard Span will talk to the Mets. Cubs and Orioles are also supposed to be interested. If he signs with the Cubs, I assume that's definitely the end of Fowler and I assume they would move Soler to LF to accommodate Heyward (or trade him if Schwarber at catcher doesn't work out).

Whole batch of Mosaic Selects and Singles running low
Brad replied to miles65's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Not a terrible price. Averages out to about $57 per set. I wouldn't be if the buyer plans to resell them individually. -
I assume one of the reasons the White Sox made the Frazier deal was not to completely lose the back pages to the Cubs. From what I've heard they're only another hitter away from being very competitive in that division, which is turning into a tough division.

Inevitable. A team with this much talent shouldn't be so close to the relegation zone. -
I think you're missing a lot if you don't read some Zweig. The one book I'd really recommend (although I like them all) is Beware of Pity. That is an excellent book. Currently reading A Tale of Two Cities. Believe it or not, this is my first foray into Dickens.

I see it the other way although I'm a big Zweig fan, having read his major fictional works so I'm biased. The man was a genius and his observations on people, things and events fascinating. It's obvious that he never comfortable or really acclimated to living outside Austria when he felt he had to leave before Hitler. In addition, many felt had took the easy way out by committing suicide in 1942. I assume you must have read some of his books otherwise you wouldn't have read his autobiography.

I was thinking that Cueto may be better off in the NL. The Dodgers have been eerily quiet. May be that $80 million plus salary cap hit they took was a bit hard to swallow.

I didn't say Heyward wasn't a good player -- although I did use the word "nice" -- I just don't think he's worth that kind of money. Ive seen him play over the years and yes he was good but a player like Freeman impressed me more. As far as why he was paid what he was, when you get into an auction like this, sometimes logic goes out the window, particularly when your rival might get him. To me, Zobrist is a utility player but even going with your definition to pay that kind of money to a 35 year old is insanity. I was not at all disappointed the Mets didn't land him. I'm quite pleased with Walker.

His OPS is ordinary and he's a nice player but nothing more than that. So they spent $184 M for a nice player and $56 M for a utility player. Well, it's nice to have money to waste. I'm also puzzled by his passing up a superior offer from the Cardinals I think they needed to improve in starting pitching and they only made a slight dent there. Hitting was not their problem.

I never stopped to think about it but his similarity to Bud is probably why I like him.

I keep a steady supply of replacement cases but that's usually for used CDs, not new ones.

Well, another crazy signing by the Cubs for a guy whose stats are not that overwhelming. Just imagine what Harper will command if he comes onto the free agent market.

Thanks Scott. I think he's a definite upgrade at the position. I don't know if they plan to try to keep him after next year. They also signed Asdubral Cabrera (hope I've not massacred his surname) for two years at $9 M which I was excited about at first but on MLB Radio yesterday, Steve Phillips said that he has no range and that the Mets already had guys with no range at a cheaper price. Moreover, what was the hurry in signing him as he'd probably be around in January.

It might have been on MLB or Bleacher Report. Mets have just acquired Walker for Niese from the Bucs to fill their 2B need. Obviously, no intention to try to sign Murphy.

No Zobrist for Mets. He's gone to Cubs. I'm not that disappointed. Too much money for a 34 year old. I'd rather see Howie Kendricks or Murphy at 2B.

Don't we basically do that -- give permission -- now implicitly, in certain respects (e.g., allowing a site to use your present location). Different, but similar, is when you use the Apple dictation device. You are giving them the rights to any information you may dictate. So, if you are you using it to dictate confidential information, you should stop doing that immediately.

It's always about the money, otherwise why have an opt out. I don't begrudge any athlete making as much as he can as careers are short. The late George Young, general manager of the football Giants, used to say that when they tell you it's not about the money, it's about the money.

After the last couple of days, they've reached an astronomical high. This will affect teams that have pitchers becoming FA in the next couple of years. Harvey and Stasberg are represented by Scott Boras and you can color them as gone.

Finished a couple of weeks ago Darcy O'Brien's A Way of Life Like No Other, a story of growing up in Hollywood with divorced parents who once were stars but are now on the down side. I have almost finished with Georges Simenon's Act of Passion, my first foray into Simenon but definitely not the last.

What Scott said. My best to you both. My brother in law has lung cancer and they just discovered some new metastases. As my sister said, not good. -
Good question. I like the catalogue and came just in time so my wife can order me something for Christmas.

Madrid's performance against Barca was an absolute disgrace. The Spanish daily Marca posed the following question: do the players not respond to Benitez or does he not know how to coach them? Whatever the reason, they need to bring back Ancellotti.
