Well, I'd go see her if she were in the area. Not sure I could get my wife to go along though -
Good luck in the new digs Joel.

As some of you may know I'm reading War and Peace. I also picked up Give War and Peace A Chance: Tolstoyan Wisdom for Troubled Times by Andrew Kaufman, a Tolstoy expert, and am reading it along with War and Peace.

To say she's incredible is one huge understatement! -
As someone noted, this has focused too much on Barnes & Noble. In looking for a CD that is probably the last place I'd look. In its heyday, Borders had -- at least the ones around here -- a pretty good Jazz section (which, as it started to get into financial trouble, shrunk). Borders' book sections were also much better than Barnes & Noble, which I generally find wanting. If I wanted to buy a jazz CD, it would be Amazon or CD Universe for me, definitely not B & N.

Thought this me of interest. A Better Way to Fight Insomnia

Thanks. I recently picked up Rebellion but haven't started it yet. There was an article about her in the November 30 edition of the New Yorker, focusing on "Carol." Wonderful book.

Some good points made by all, the best being, that it's still baseball, as Jim says. Also, as Dan says, nothing is sancrosanct. I understand why it should be changed. Logically, it doesn't make sense to have two different sets of rules.

I hope the Melatonin works for you Joel. I think you have to take it right when you're ready for bed.

The DH is an abomination as it wrecks the internal construct of the game. Unfortunately, that's the way the game is played everywhere except the NL so change must come.

Just finished Roth's The Emperor's Tomb. A fine book (although I know it's received some criticism), some of the writing is just beautiful and some of it is very funny. Reading Roth is like a paean to an Austria that once was before WW I came.

Yes, the Giant pitchers are really good. So, more or less, are the Mets pitchers. Watching Colon hit can be a hoot but he can hit and gets hits. I think he even drove in a couple of runs this year. Sad to see this part of the game going.

Joel, I'm obviously no doctor but what have I read is that you want to relax the brain. Wouldn't practicing get the juices flowing? Brad
-
I think the mistake you're making is that when you get up and practice, you're stimulating your brain, whereas it needs to be de-stimulated (assuming that's a word).

More Blue? Who wouldn't want that?

Haven't gotten around to it but Occupied is on my list to watch.

That indeed is another way to get to sleep. Actually had a little trouble last night. Woke up 1 (went to bed at 12) and took me an hour and half to fall asleep.
