  1. Lon, Sorry to hear about your wife. There are really no words to say I'm sorry and hope things look up from here.
  2. As a Giants fan, I was obviously glad they won. However, I think the streak did the Pats no good. Had they lost one during the season, they might be champs today, esp. considering how poorly they played the last month or so during the regular season; they had no business winning the Raven game, for e.g.
  3. Any metal concert my son makes me go to. On the 22, we saw Ozzy Osbourne (not too bad), with Rob Zombie. For his birthday, I have to take him and a few friends to see Hell Yeah and Machine Head. Oh, joy
  4. I've just started to read this and I'm a moderator on another non-jazz board, a lot smaller than this. Because this one is so big, I suggest moderators for different forums. Moderating can be very time consuming and to make it easier, several is probably best. I'm sorry Brownie is leaving, a real gentleman and a loss to this Board but I understand his reasons.
  5. Hm. I never fully understood the claim that 3 Sounds are kept OOP. I think that at least seven BN titles have been released in USA and at least another six in Japan only. I count 13 plus a Best Of. I know that people want things to be 'in print' and 'cheap', but isn't 'still findable' and 'not costing a fortune' good enough for those who are interested (as opposed to those who just want to hoover up a cheap 'collection'? I thought the older Sounds reissues didn't sell very well - they aren't popular - and that has been the reason for dropping them. Edited after a recount! I gave up on the Three Sounds campaign awhile ago. When I visited Mosaic several years ago and talked to Michael for a few minutes, he said he was trying to find a way to get some Sounds into circulation. Too bad it never happened. Maybe he's still working on it.
  6. I was just looking at the new Hampton set and the website IMHO is really fantastic on all the different things you can see about an upcoming set, related sets, etc. A quantum improvement over what existed.
  7. The Jacquet Mosaic auction ends tonight.
  8. Edited for addition of some new things
  9. I've got a few things on Ebay, including: Illinois Jacquet Mosaic - 3 of 4 discs still sealed. Louis Armstrong Plays W.C. Handy Louis Armstrong 1934-1936 - Classics label Stan Getz - The Brothers Frank Foster - No Count - Japan Cannonball Adderley - At the Lighthouse Mose Allison - Back Country Suite
  10. I happen to like the Red Sox but don't consider myself a member of the Red Sox Nation. However, the 2004 season was as much baseball as I enjoyed in a long time. Much more fun, actually, than the Mets' good but ultimately disappointing 2006 season. As a Mets fan (read sufferer), Red Sox fans and Mets fans have something in common and I don't need to point out what that is I only saw the games on TV but didn't see the arrogance being discussed. Although replays showed Manny didn't get Lofton, he played the carom expertly. You couldn't do any better. The guy I love to watch on the Sox is Pedroia. He reminds of everyman, a player who is like the rest of us, making the most of his skills. What distinguishes him from the rest of us is obviously his skill but also his supreme confidence in himself. Maybe that's what separates the men from the boys. Many of us have talent but don't scratch it or have the belief that we can do so. I'll say Red Sox in 6 but they're also facing a team that doesn't know it should lose. It will be disappointing if the Red Sox lose. I'd rather see a local team (not the Yankees or Phillies of course) than some team out West win
  11. Not sure that it matters one way or the other.
  12. English. However, I am fluent in Spanish, having lived overseas in my youth (so sadly departed). I stil think in Spanish occasionally. It's always been my contention that when you think in a language, then you're on the way to mastering it. When I lived overseas, I would think in Spanish but for the most part I don't do that anymore. When I've been on vacation in Spain, right when I'm getting ready to leave, I can feel it coming back. It's a great feeling but bittersweet at the same time.
  13. You're kidding I assume.
  14. I don't have that problem but it seems every few days I have to re log in even though I've clicked "remember me."
  15. Why not have an even LONGER look and reverse your decision - that is one of the best ever Mosaic sets in my opinion. Great box indeed.
  16. Just got the email and ordered the following: Cohn Newman Green Select J.J. Johnson and Kai Winding Single Art Farmer Single
  17. I happen to have an extra copy of the 1954 set of this great series so I've stuck it on Ebay. Sorry for all the threads but I didn't want this one to get lost in the crowd.
  18. I don't follow College Football all that closely, particularly Michigan unless they're playing ND (another disaster) but what the hell happened to the program? That coach could be gone by mid season.
  19. In Ankiel's defence, he claims he used it to treat his elbow and that he's prepared to discuss the issue with MLB fully and openly whenever and wherever they want.
  20. Where's Chaney?
  21. Anybody see this Bud Powell Mythic Sounds set? Wish I had the money.
  22. If it's not a hassle I don't see why not but why not just stop posting and leave it at that.
  23. Even though I'm a Mets fan, the National League is not that impressive. I can't figure out my team, although they've played better since the Phillies swept 'em. It's like they finally realized they better start playing some ball. The only team I really like (to win it all that is) are the Sox. I haven't seen much of the Tribe so I can't really say about them.
  24. That's a little sick. Sounds like he might have something in common with Katherine the Great.
