After looking at the angelic face of Jim's new son, how can you believe the site will crash? Looking good so far.

When Ad-Aware finds stuff in your Reg. Key
Brad replied to BERIGAN's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Norton's detected adware on my computer but when I go to the program in question to delete it won't let me. Any suggestions? When the particular adware tries to send the information, Norton detects and it's permanently blocked. Does that make it harmless? -
Happy Birthday to the greatest band and bandleader there ever was (IMHO). I believe wkcr.org may be running a special. I know they've been playing a lot of the Count this week.

This is the first time I've had this cd and I think it's one of his better Blue Notes. I wasn't sure to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. I don't know about James Spaulding though. He sounds like what Bird would have sounded like if he had playing in the 60s. I don't think he's saying that much.

Looks like there's going to be a lot of Jazztet ebay auctions. I'm planning to offload a few myself but I'll wait until Hans is finished.

Do we know who bnoffice is. I'm not sure they'd spend $400. I hope Mike sees this so he can give them a call before they ship.

Don't hold your breath. We're probably good tonight. Tomorrow, only the seer knows.

I was looking for a place like the BNBB and the Harlem site that Catesta pushed the wrong buttons on didn't seem that great and AAJ was ok but b3er allowed this place to grow organically, not guiding it or controlling it. That's why this place is so great. I joined as soon as I heard about it. Always respected what Jim had to say (both Jims that is) and this is a good, no great place. If it weren't for this place, we'd be in trouble. I wasn't No. 3 to join but I made it to the top 30

Guilty as charged. I sold on ebay a duplicate copy of volume 1 of Elmo Hope's BN sessions and couldn't find it. Had to send him my own copy and then 3 weeks later I found it in a ledge in the garage where I sometimes put things when I take them out of the car. However, when it comes to Mosaic I am zealously careful.

I received an email from Peter Crawford of Stateside, SteepleChase's distributor in the US of the following: SCCD 36033- Dexter Gordon - "Misty" featuring: Dexter Gordon (Tenor saxophone), Kenny Drew (piano), Niels-Henning Orsted Pedersen (bass), and Alex Reil (Drums). Recorded "live" at Montmartre Jazzhus, Copenhagen, July 8, 1965. Tunes include: "Misty", "Take The A Train", "Shiny Stockings" and "Cheese Cake". Peter's phone number is 888-776-0436 and his email is stateside@prodigy.net

If you like West Coast jazz, this is a must. A very fine set. It's about time that this set got some appreciation.

I've heard that stacking them horizontally isn't good. Someone mentioned that here. Mine are all vertical. I think it's the same principle with lps. You want them veritical. Which remnds me of a funny line. In New York there used to be a trendy gym (I think it's still around although I'm not sure it's trendy anymore) called the Vertical Club. People would say that you go to the Vertical Club to get horizontal.

I'm no expert but does the skipping as Phil has been experiencing harm his cds?

Terrific Mosaic. I received this back at Christmas time and have loved it ever since. Charlie Mariano was an eyeopener for me. Another excellent album is the self titled Charlie Mariano (I think) on Bethlehem released in Japan. Lots of Frank Rosolino on there too.

This is excellent. I highly recommend this, especially Cherokee. About a year ago or so there was a very nice brief articlea about him in Jazz Times, part of their Overdue Ovation series.

I received mine and listened to 'em this morning on the way down to Philadelphia and I have to say I'm mad at Dan. The reason: there's so many good tunes here that I going to have buy the cds. Gould, you're gonna cost me money!

Tod, just do a 180

Today is a double birthday for Ike and Duke, both important figures in the Blue Note legacy. One of my earliest cds was Congo Lament so that will get a listen to tonight.

Thanks for the rec. It's on my very short list.

Man, this is going to be great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm salivating just reading the discography. This is going to be a hell of a fall with this and Dexter. Yes, there is a God and he lives in Stamford, Connecticut

Where's Metronome when you need them? -
What's the view here on the recently released Desert Winds (although it's technically not a Verve). I've been debating whether I should get that.

FS: Mosaic Johnny Hodges Sessions 1951-1955
Brad replied to Brad's topic in Offering and Looking For...
Kevin would seem to be right. I've only gotten a couple of nibbles and none near what I paid for it. So, I'm perfectly content to sit tight. I'm not trying to hype this set; I don't believe it needs that but I've got a few Blue Moons (Lester, Illinois Jacquet) and I don't think the sound is all that great. Passable but not wonderful. -
This appears to be temporarily out of stock but I'm hoping it comes back in soon. It sounds very exciting.

That's a shame because of all the great recordings Dexter made during this period, that one is my favorite. Great charts and terrific playing by all concerned. I echo what Marty and others have said about this session. It is truly fantastic. I was lucky enough to get a copy off ebay.
