  1. Hmmm, here's one. What song did his son sing on in the 50s. I heard his voice was as light as a feather's
  2. Getting back to the original question, this is a very good session and from my recollection of the Mosaic book quite highly viewed. Hassan's Dream is very well written and tells a great story. Lee's rendition of I Remember Clifford is the most moving version I've heard of this (although not the original one).
  3. I've found that Jazz Discography site to be pretty indispensible, esp for Bud and Dexter.
  4. I just called Mosaic and ordered the Jazztet. However, they said it will be going out Monday or Tuesday unless they're processing outstanding orders first.
  5. Dmitry, I just sent you a PM.
  6. Maybe the computer is just drunk and is sleeping it off
  7. Looking at that list, I believe Mosaic had killed off the project because of objections or non-cooperation from his family. The Keynote is just a pipedream, unfortunately.
  8. Jim, That's awesome, to say the least. Thanks.
  9. How about some of the smilies that they now have on AAJ. Some of those, like the dancing dude, are pretty cool.
  10. Go is the best, with Getting Around and Doing Allright close seconds. Even Dexter called Go a classic.
  11. That is extremely helpful. Does anyone have a link to the discography for the Nat King Cole set. That would would be very, very helpful.
  12. I find it mindboggling that somebody would have the time during the day, the work day that is, to make over 100 posts. Heck, I don't even have that much interesting to say.
  13. We all can make a mistake (says he sheepishly)
  14. We've got to keep those prices up Hans :rsmile:
  15. After looking at the angelic face of Jim's new son, how can you believe the site will crash? Looking good so far.
  16. Norton's detected adware on my computer but when I go to the program in question to delete it won't let me. Any suggestions? When the particular adware tries to send the information, Norton detects and it's permanently blocked. Does that make it harmless?
  17. Happy Birthday to the greatest band and bandleader there ever was (IMHO). I believe wkcr.org may be running a special. I know they've been playing a lot of the Count this week.
  18. This is the first time I've had this cd and I think it's one of his better Blue Notes. I wasn't sure to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. I don't know about James Spaulding though. He sounds like what Bird would have sounded like if he had playing in the 60s. I don't think he's saying that much.
  19. Looks like there's going to be a lot of Jazztet ebay auctions. I'm planning to offload a few myself but I'll wait until Hans is finished.
  20. Do we know who bnoffice is. I'm not sure they'd spend $400. I hope Mike sees this so he can give them a call before they ship.
  21. Don't hold your breath. We're probably good tonight. Tomorrow, only the seer knows.
  22. I was looking for a place like the BNBB and the Harlem site that Catesta pushed the wrong buttons on didn't seem that great and AAJ was ok but b3er allowed this place to grow organically, not guiding it or controlling it. That's why this place is so great. I joined as soon as I heard about it. Always respected what Jim had to say (both Jims that is) and this is a good, no great place. If it weren't for this place, we'd be in trouble. I wasn't No. 3 to join but I made it to the top 30
  23. Guilty as charged. I sold on ebay a duplicate copy of volume 1 of Elmo Hope's BN sessions and couldn't find it. Had to send him my own copy and then 3 weeks later I found it in a ledge in the garage where I sometimes put things when I take them out of the car. However, when it comes to Mosaic I am zealously careful.
  24. I received an email from Peter Crawford of Stateside, SteepleChase's distributor in the US of the following: SCCD 36033- Dexter Gordon - "Misty" featuring: Dexter Gordon (Tenor saxophone), Kenny Drew (piano), Niels-Henning Orsted Pedersen (bass), and Alex Reil (Drums). Recorded "live" at Montmartre Jazzhus, Copenhagen, July 8, 1965. Tunes include: "Misty", "Take The A Train", "Shiny Stockings" and "Cheese Cake". Peter's phone number is 888-776-0436 and his email is stateside@prodigy.net
  25. If you like West Coast jazz, this is a must. A very fine set. It's about time that this set got some appreciation.
