I've got the Wilson so I'll skip that and I've got the Rivers Mosaic. I'll probably get the Larry Young, skip the Hill and maybe get the Silver.

I'd have to agree with Dave and strongly disagree with Jim. Who can forget the great match that McEnroe and Borg had back in Wimbledon on July 4, 1980. That was a classic thrilling exciting match. Or the matches between Chrissie and Martina. Again, great sports.

Savoy is reissuing this so I hope the transfers are good. I probably have these in a few versions but I need to check to be sure. Might be a worthwhile pickup.

A mighty fine list for West Coast enthusiasts

Here's a link to the discography for Marx's Trend label.

One in five Germans wants the Berlin Wall back

Reunification does cost. It's as simple as that. And it can't be done overnight. I imagine it would take years. The effect of World War II and its aftermath will be with us for hundreds of year probably. I'm sure the costs, material and otherwise, of reuniting the south into the Union after the American Civil War were numerous. I'm not sure we're over the non material costs yet. -
To quote the late, unlamented missing one..."you'd complain if you were hung with a new rope"...she can rub me any way she wants... Ahem. Pardon me; a little too much exhuberance there... While we're at it, anybody else you want to dream (fantasize?) about rubbing you the wrong way

That's not so outrageous for a power player. What makes you say Serena had no intention of going to Athens? Her injury status was up in the air. Jan, It was all over the media in the City and was pretty actively discussed on WFAN by Chris Russo, who is a huge tennis fan.

Yes, there were some bad calls but she also made 57 unforced errors. So let's not just blame the umpire for the calls. Bad calls are part of any sport, you gotta deal with them and move on. I'm glad she lost. She rubs me the wrong way. What she did in the Olympics was pathetic. She never had any intention of going and she waited until the last minute to withdraw, waiting so long in fact that the US couldn't name a replacement. I'm sure that somebody would have loved to be on the team but her selfish attitude cost somebody a spot. She can't lose enough to suit me.

I was ready to get this until I saw the killer: voices. Vocals are bad enough, let alone a multitude. Too bad.

FS: Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers LP

If by that you mean that people have exploited the land for personal purposes and put nothing back into it, that probably describes a lot what passes for capitalism. Which brings to mind the banks during the great depression leaving people high and dry. As for Chuck, he's brief but succinct and we've all in some way felt the Nessian observations. -
I don't have a lot of his but what I've heard I like a lot. I think he's from Pittsburg and did a record about that that's supposed to be good, which I'd like to pick up.

Well that was an effed up way to start the day

Death is all around us (as if that's some great revelation) and people will kill themselves. What's unacceptable is if they injure or kill someone in the process, like Jan. Thank god nothing like that happened. -
Isn't that picture of Art but in red and black on the cover of the Savoy release?

Those Jimmy Cobb Mob cds are really quite outstanding. Peter Bernstein really shines on these.

Thanks Lon. I guess that's one box I won't be getting as I'm sure it must be way out of print and way expensive.

I think Dr. Freud and Red Menace have gotten their respective (?) tongues stuck in their collective (?) cheeks.

You're going to have to educate the ignorant here but what is this 16CD box that ubu referred to?

I listened to Atomic Basie earlier this week and was blown away again, especially Neal Hefti's arrangements. Bit by bit, they seem to be releasing what was on the Mosaic Roulette Studio.

How could that be a crime against nature. He did it with nature. Guess he made a real pig of himself

Playing and writing is very good. Worth picking up.

I can't believe this only one post about GH. Don't you have guys have any shame. This guy was GREAT!

I'm sure your kidding about burning them. That's probably unethical, not to menton illegal. But this has happened to me. I received something not what I expected and the other buyer received mine. So we simply traded and the seller send us money for shipment (with much apologies of course) and everything turned out well.

It's almost not his birthday anymore and I also don't want to steal the Fanatic's (aka Dan Gould) thunder but Happy Birthday Gene Harris. May you someday get the credit you're due.

I don't have this particular album but I could never warm up to Bunky's style, plus I have a hard time getting serious about anybody called Bunky.
