  1. Bertrand, the recently issued Junior Mance two fer left out a song.
  2. Only the Blues was on the Tower site a while ago. I don't know if it is now. I've seen it on Ebay from time to time.
  3. I'm in the majority about his singing. I find it hard to take at times but I'm really looking forward to this set. Tod, you can't check out. You've got to at least wait for the Keynotes Hope you're feeling better.
  4. Email sent. Thank Marcus.
  5. I think the key here is how well you treat your cds. I think most of us here are probably nuts about that kind of thing where I see my son not really caring as to condition. I've found that it's pretty hard to abuse a cd so if you treat them right they should last. I don't have a lot of cds from the mid 80s but the ones that I do play fine.
  6. Ditto on the nice list. Have just about everything but may upgrade on some of them.
  7. I don't particularly like the new format. It's not that easy to read but we live in an age of "if it's not broke, fix it." If they make us pay for it in the near future, I suppose I'll have to anty up.
  8. I agree with you in part. Yes, don't muck it up while remastering it but also don't throw the baby out with the bath water. In looking at that Hoffman forum, I found the whole tone a little patronizing towards Rudy, which bothers me, especially with the participation of some members here. It's not a science and it's imperfect as Mr. Hoffman recognizes.
  9. I second Chuck's opinion. Much (too much) is made of the remastering as opposed to getting the music out to those who want to hear it.
  10. That dancing dude is cool. Let's add him to what we already have.
  11. My choice would have been Blakey although I'm not sure about Prestige. What about Cannonball?
  12. I've got a CDR of this so never picked up the Conn. It's not my favorite Mobley session of the 60s or even the 50s but hey it's Hank. It's a lot better than Reach Out, that's for sure.
  13. It will definitely not crash (knock on wood)!
  14. I'd think that it would be hard to argue that George Marshall isn't the most important marshall.
  15. Following my trip to France and Normandy, I'm now reading Max Hasting's Book Overlord, recommended for history buffs.

    Blue Harlem

FWIW, I saw a few of these recently at Jusseau Music in Paris but didn't take the plunge although I sort of wanted to.
  17. It's Pierre Michelot on bass and Klook on Drums. This was recorded at the Blue Note and they frequently worked with him there.
  18. Any time I read liner notes. In fact anything in smaller print, I find I'm taking off my glasses. And this on top of my having those bifocals type glasses that don't have a line through them, which, btw, I fought for two years before I got them. Maybe they just need strengthening.
  19. For those who don't have it, get Good Gracious and the Sonny Criss Imperial Sessions, truly wonderful music. Why they would let the Sonny Criss go out of print is beyond me.
  20. Of the current sets, I only have the Joe Pass and that's a very nice set. I hope to get the Farlow soon. Of the OOP ones, I'd recommend them all, particularly the Desmond Hall set, truly a special set.
  21. I don't see a lot of discussion about the Woody Herman Columbia upcoming set of the First Herd and Second and this promises to be a great set, esp. with Sonny Berman. I've just preordered it.
  22. I suppose if I posted to the politics forum, I'd have more than I do and in the other areas I don't always have something to say that's worthwhile reading about.
  23. I just picked up a couple of these (Lee Morgan and Mulligan-Farmer) from Virgin when I was in Paris but since I just got back haven't had a chance to listen yet. However, am looking forward to them.
  24. Don't think we need it. We already have a forum devoted to that as Underground Agent indicated.
