  1. It’s one of those statements that tend to elicit a chuckle but aren’t necessarily true on reflection.
  2. I have the Soul Food lp. It was ok, nothing special.
  3. From all over the place. I just let them ring. Eventually they get tired of calling my number.
  4. I was the one who originally posted. The sound is beyond horrible. A tough listen.
  5. No, eBay or Discogs. Stores never seem to have enough copies of jazz titles and they sell out fast. I purchased the Coleman vinyl on Discogs and didn’t pay much more than the retail price.
  6. Last year, most of my purchases were online. You’ll find that people will have it for a reasonable amount of money. I did go to a record store only hours later. There is nothing worth standing on line for hours.
  7. Scott told me that the set will be available for the coming open house so I presume it will be available for order very soon.
  8. What a shame. I’m glad that David was able to interview him for his Soul Jazz episode. RIP.
  9. I don’t think Sam cares. Their records sell out.
  10. I just think it was a reflex move on his part but whether it was intentional or not, it was in the strike zone and should have been called a strike. Refs blow calls sometimes. It happens. I’m sure I’d be mad if I were the Marlins. A bad call no doubt.
  11. I don’t think it was intentional on his part but be that as it may he should have been out. Even the Mets announcers thought so too.
  12. I found this, https://m.soundcloud.com/kcrw/charlie-parker-performing-at-zorthian-ranch-on-july-14-1952 Not pristine and not exactly unknown. A review from All About Jazz of this material is not too complimentary. https://www.allaboutjazz.com/at-jirayr-zorthians-ranch-july-14-1952-charlie-parker-disconforme-review-by-david-rickert.php?width=414 Also from JazzTimes, https://jazztimes.com/archives/charlie-parker-at-jirayr-zorthians-ranch/
  13. I would think so as it seems they were supposed to be released at the same time.
  14. If what is being released is the same as what’s mentioned in the article, I’m assuming it was delayed a year.
  15. Also of interest to me are the Canned Heat titles.
  16. The list was just announced and there’s quite a few jazz titles, including Bird in LA, both in lp and cd, from Verve. No idea what it contains. https://recordstoreday.com/SpecialRelease/13713 Here’s the full list, https://recordstoreday.com/PromotionalEvent/580
  17. Thank for this David. Did you like the book. Was thinking of ordering it.
  18. It’s not just the USPS, FedEx is bad too. I recently ordered a record from Mobile Fidelity, going from Chicago to NJ. Three days after shipment, it was in Pennsylvania and delivery was going to be the next day. Next day, no package. I look at the tracking and it’s in California. Why, I have no idea. About a week later it finally showed up.
