  1. Shall I send you my address so you can send it to me?
  2. They didn’t use the term “stars” (that was me) but I think they’re talking all of the above. People like Miles and Sonny are the big names and below them comes another group, e.g., the second best group. It’s just a list like any other list and one with which people can disagree.
  3. JazzTimes published a list last month of the best 10 Other BN Artists, players who, for lack of a better word, were not the “stars” but in JT’s words were emblematic of what BN was all about. JazzTimes 10: Best of the Other Blue Note Artists The list in order: Tina Brooks Johnny Coles Herbie Nichols Curtis Fuller Blue Mitchell Elmo Hope Garchan Moncur III Baby Face Willette The Three Sounds Ike Quebec
  4. Misery loves company. Come watch the Mets with me. They went from having the best rotation last year to a really bad one: deGrom hurt, Syndergaard TJ surgery, Wheeler signed with Phillies, Matz is terrible and Stroman opted out.
  5. Civic responsibility at work: New York Has a 14-Day Quarantine. Most New Yorkers Are Ignoring It
  6. Wait until November 4 when the you know what will hit the fan. We are heading to a crackup.
  7. An article in JazzTimes about planned LP/CD and book releases and online events for the 100th anniversary of the birth of Charlie Parker. Now’s the Time for the Charlie Parker Centennial
  8. That’s even worse news than before. The likelihood of this ever seeing the light of day is slim.
  9. The Mosaics at Princeton may be high since I’ve never purchased any from them but I did purchase a Select for Justin and found the price decent.
  10. By record cleaner, do you mean a Spin Clean or a vacuum device?
  11. Princeton Record Exchange in Princeton, NJ has many, many Mosaics but they don’t ship. You will have to call them to find out. I may be going down there next week so I could always pick up something for you.
  12. Pm coming on Turrentine with Scott Never Let Me Go, assuming Dana doesn’t want it.
  13. This one received a lot of air play in my house when I was a kid.
  14. Those prices are hard to beat.
  15. 32 Jazz and Joel Dorm was a godsend. Sorry the label is no longer around.
  16. In Sunday’s New York Times, David Hajdu wrote that 100 years ago, Mamie Smith recorded a seminal blues hit, Crazy Blues, that gave voice to outrage at violence against Black Americans. “It established the blues as a popular art and prepared the way for a century of Black expression in the fiery core of American music.” A Song That Changed Music Forever
  17. What has happened to public decency in this country. When I was a kid back in the Stone Age we took courses on civics to inculcate in us shared values, democracy, getting along with our fellow citizens, etc. What happened to all that? Guess it was all a big lie (especially if you’re Black). Call me naive. Guess we all were.
  18. An American Pickle on HBO.
  19. I can’t see how there will be NFL football this year although the pundits and sports talk stations are acting as if there will be.
  20. That’s just a fucked up situation. It’s one thing if a person doesn’t want to wear a mask, quite another when they go out of their way and commit an assault. I fear that if Trump is re-elected the sky will be the limit on cases and deaths.
