What would you ask Herbie Hancock?
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez replied to Rooster_Ties's topic in Artists
The same thing i asked him in 1998 and 2001, but since we dont chill that much im sure he wouldn't mind and id love to hear a 2017 answer I HOPE HIS NEW BAND COMES HERE HERBIE PLEASE CAN YOU GO OVER THE ENTIRE "CORNBREAD" SESSION WITH ME, WHAT ARE ALL YOUR MEMORIES OF THAT -
look the only thing i read about chick, re: the "group"-- was that it seems they actually give chick more freedom than most, as hes been in it way longer than the other celebs and hes a jazz musican and stuff, so the church doesnt bother him as much as it normally would someone, chick has some sort of automy--- but we all know about what happed w/ sciglgy + RTF, OMG. Scientology freaking took over and destoryed RTF- now theres a question for ya. do you guys know about that.....even when the reunion hit, it was a big huge issue, remember the reunion a few years back, apparently stanley clarke, in order to get back on chicks good side, REJOINED, after escaping for many years. its really weird

are you really gonna ask him a controversial scientoligst question!

Monk + Giants of Jazz tour
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez replied to chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez's topic in Artists
did live jazz in general suffer from moving out of the clubs and onto the festivals.....i mean the fusion stuff comes off okay but like these allstar acoustic jazz mega shows like on youtube from the 80s n stuff,i just dont see how you can play acoustic jazz like that stadium-rock style, and really groove right, u see what im sayin -
I was just thinking, do you think maybe Monk finally had enough of playing when he had to go on tour, with a different band, like not his quartet. sonny stitt, kai winding, art blakey.....whats the deal with the giants of jazz tour. did monk really want to do it

Concord Acquires Savoy, 429 Records
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez replied to paul secor's topic in Miscellaneous Music
how the hell concord became such a major player is beyond me.......they were just like a little jazz label that issued 80s herb ellis records in crappy plastic sleeves......where did all this $$$$$ come from for all these aquisitions? -

THE SUN RA ARKESTRA PLAYED THE ECLIPSE FESTIVAL IN ORGEON AND I DIDNT KNOW ABOUT IT. IT WOULD OF BEEN A 350 MILE/PER-WAY TRIP, BUT I WOULD OF STRONGLY CONSIDERED IT. MY ONE CHANCE TO EXPERIENCE THE SUN RA ARKESTRA AND I MISSED IT. MY ONE CHANCE. THAT COULD OF BEEN ME DANCING NEXT TO DANNY RAY THOMPSON. DOES THAT OREGON HIPPIE CHICK EVEN KNOW SHE IS DANCING NEXT TO DANNY RAY THOMPSON? WAS WATCHING A SF NEWSCAST FROM THE OTHER DAY WHERE THEY DID THEIR ONLY OTHER W. COAST SHOW, WHERE I WAS ABLE TO SEE MORE SHOTS OF THE BAND........THAT IS ABSOLUTELY MICHAEL RAY, IN THE 2ND PHOTO
