  1. Ubu, I would certainly like to hear your BFT. Download would be great. Thanks.
  2. Thanks for the tunes. These things are all fun for me because I've rarely heard any of the tracks. I don't have a lot of comments, sorry. I really like the second track. I put the BFT on my Sansa tonight (not a big step up in fidelity from the computer but I can hear a little more of the subtleties) and there is a lot going on here. And I like fun in my music. Looking forward to the reveal on this one for sure. Track 4 sounds kind of familiar. More like the stuff I usually gravitate to. I like track 8 a lot. For some reason it puts me in mind of the vibe on some of the tunes on an album by Ellery Eskelin called “The Sun Died”. Some Gene Ammons tunes, I think. No real stinkers and a couple of things that need to be checked out further. A pretty good outing. Thanks again.
  3. Just sent you the links. Sorry about the Huskers. It was a sad day in my house. (I married a Crete, NE girl.) Thanks for the links, I am sure I will enjoy. I remember your NE connection. That lost isn't playing well locally either.
  4. Is it too late to ask for a download? Thanks.
  5. After reading your comments about the Smith/Blackwell album at another venue, I thought it might show up on your show. Thanks. I think I have a new #1 on my "to buy" list.
  6. I would very much like to be included. Thank you.
  7. Question, I have an album called "The Gary McFarland Orchestra, Special Guest Soloist: Bill Evans" but it is on Verve. Is that the same album?
  8. Thank you.
  9. Does anyone know of a way to contact Andrew Cyrille?
  10. Hey Bol, I was looking for another Walt Dickerson CD and noticed that Downtown Music Gallery claims to have "A Sense of Direction".

    BFT #76

Hey Bill, I have been listening to your BFT and thought I had better at least tell you thanks before time runs out. I am not a real big band type fan so I would say my favorite track is probably #7. So what is that instrument? Dulcimer? Sounds like a whole lot of different things. Nice tune. I am looking forward to finding out who #6 is also. Liked that one alot also. Again, thanks for the opportunity to hear some new to me stuff.

    BFT #76

Please include me on your BFT. Thanks.
  13. I just read about this album on a squidco e-mail and listened to a couple clips there. Sounds really good. This is for sure a buy. Please forgive me for saying that I don't know much about your music, but I will be finding out. Thanks.
  14. DrJ, Thanks for the opportunity to hear some music that is new to me. I guess I typically listen to stuff that is different from most of the BFTs but there is always something that I really like and need to check out further. On your BFT it would be the Joe Thomas track. Your comments peak my interest more. Thanks again for your effort.
  15. Tonight - Fugimundi Trio - Eric Vloeimans/Anton Goudsmit/Harmen Fraanje
  16. Thanks for the downloads. Track 6 didn't work for me either. Plenty of other music though.
  17. I would very much like to be a part of this. A download would be great. Thank you.
  18. Lucky man, finding yourself a Nebraska girl.
  19. Jeff, I've been enjoying listening to your BFT and following the comments. I am always amazed by the musical knowledge of the folks on the forum. For me, however, it was all new. I also find the differences in preferences a lot of fun. Thank God we don't all like the same thing. I did recognize Bill Frisell on track 9. Reminded me of Marc Johnson's “Bass Desires” albums. I used to listen to them a lot but that stuff hasn't held up for me over the years for some reason. My favorite tracks are definitely the 1960s and 1990s. You know on track 10 I was thinking of Tom Varner but since it is a trombone, I guess not. Please at least tell me trombone and french horn sound a little alike. I also seem to click on the first track quite often. Don't have anything like this in my collection. On the flip side, track 11 to me is just awful. I keep trying it but just doesn't work for me. Thank you very much for another opportunity to hear some good, new to me music.
  20. I haven't heard or liked enough 2009 releases to make a top ten list. The one thing I would mention is a Denmon Maroney Quintet album called "Udentity" (CleanFeed). For my taste in music, this is one of the best things I have heard in years.

    Dumb Question

Again, thanks for all comments. This forum is a good group of folks. No laptop. An inexpensive set of headphones with the disc player I already have is probably the way to go but there is some appeal to not toting CDs around.

    Dumb Question

I am open. Just looking for an inexpensive, convenient way to take some music on the road. I do have an old sony discman (or something like that) but the headphones shot crap.

    Dumb Question

I never thought about needing a plug-in. Thanks for the responses.

    Dumb Question

Thanks for the response, Matthew, but I don't have a cell phone.

    Dumb Question

You guys have been pretty tolerant when I have asked stupid questions before, so.... My wife wants to take a train the next time we go back East to see our son. I will need music to do this and would like to copy a few CDs on something, hopefully not too expensive. What do you suggest? This has probably been covered somewhere on the forum but I know so little about the subject that I don't know what to search for. I do appreciate your help. Thanks.
