  1. Wish I could, interesting stuff going on there, will see Atomic the 23rd.
  2. Heard good things about the Taborn solo, have yet to listen it though, gotta say curious about the match between ECM and him, not exactly an obvious fit but the fellow is quite versatile so who knows.
  3. Because of my computer problems forgot to give you news about the summer Montreal jazz scene The Suoni per Il Popolo is in its last week and what a week it will be ; The Craig Taborn project Farmers by Nature, The Thing , Atomic etc. If you add up the already terrific show saw the last few weeks, Satoko Fujii in a quartet, David Ware and Jason Sharp solo, Charles Gayle, solo Joëlle Léandre with François Houle and Raymond Strid we're on our way to have one of the finest festival since the debut of the Suoni in its eleven years of existence http://www.liftticke...lpopolo/2011-06 Regarding the big fest, as it is now more and moree the case a lot of non jazz crap, seriously the headliner is freakin' Peter Frampton playing Frampton comes aloive !!! Outside gigs fare no better with none other than the B 52 coming on the big stage. Once that said, you still hasve interesting acts and make yourself a fine festival but the jazz fan in me is tired to be playing second banana. They are three series worth our attention both series at the Gésu among one called Jazzbeat where we will see David Binney Mark Turner , Geri Allen and Don Byron to name a few. The other Gesu series is Jazz dans la nuit starring Brad Mehldau in solo, Tigran Hamasyan in a quartet, Anat Cohen and probably my standout show of the festival with Jean-Michel Pilc with his original trio Ari Hoenig and François Moutin . The invitation series is rather a strong one with three day residencies by Marc Ribot, Dave Holland and Anouar Brahem http://www.montrealj...default-en.aspx
  4. Saw another excellent gig showcasing the very fine Satoko Fujii with her project Ma-Do.
  5. I can do it better than you found it for 45 $ on a seller on Amazon Canada http://www.amazon.ca/gp/offer-listing/B001CCHQSY/ref=sr_1_1_olp?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1308540854&sr=8-1&condition=new
  6. Hiliarous, it has aged quite well as they are things that have changed little.
  7. RIP Clarence and might as well say RIP E Street Band.
  8. I hope they are better fireworks in the bedroom than on stage.
  9. I think Reed aligns himself with whoever wants him as company, he did a project with Laurie Anderson and John Zorn which mostly amounted to a bunch of controversy but to the best of my knowledge little music.
  10. Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss. I was usually using the other alt, which does not work I never understood the point of these different keyboards for people writing in French, we maybe speak in different fashion but the freakin' rules of writing are the same for everyone Thanks for finding the answer in such a rapid fashion.
  11. Got a new Windows and it kinda reconfigured my keyboard, you have no idea how complicated it is to get decent settings for french, anyway here's my problem can't locate the @ on my keyboard when I do shift and 2 it gives me a " instead, so anybody can tell me where it would be then. Only way I was to able to write it is by using the paste and copy but on certain sites it won't work and if I have to type my email adress I get in trouble. Most of the other keys and function seem to be in their usual space, so I'm reluctant to switch settings. So for the computer buffs here, anybody which key I need to press to make appear the g****** @, thanks in advance !
  12. Here's a blog that will be helpful to learn about deals, it 's in French but they are enough pictures for you to figure out what it's all about http://bons-plans-classique.blogspot.com/
  13. Edit they don't sell to Canada, guess they don't ship overseas
  14. Ah, but that's the *complete* set. This one's missing the live recordings and some other assorted stuff, I presume. F They are indeed bonuses, but the thing is so freakin' huge it needs a room on its own. Got it for x-mas... but haven't really come far with listening yet. Would wish for the expensive Gainsbourg box to appear at such a great price one day... but I guess I got to spend more for that (and am not sure I really need it, as I have half or more on a dozen single discs). Indeed the bigger boxes are more for completists more than anything else.
  15. Me thinks that if he has any sense, he will stick to his cross and not go anywhere near them
  16. Ok and this is a bargain because.....
  17. Ever hear of Mike Richter, or Marty Brodeur, for that matter? Please. Ever hear of Glenn Hall or Terry Sawchuk or Johnny Bower or Ken Dryden or Jacques Plante or Frank Brimsek or Bill Durnam or Harry Lumley or Gump Worsley or Turk Broda of any of a dozen other guys I could name. If you think Richter or Brodeur played better than Tim Thomas in an SCF, that's fine. I just don't have to agree. Remind me again, how many teams have had to win a game seven three time before they could claim the hardware? That's due in no small part to the efforts of Mr. Thomas. Try Patrick Roy, he won two cups with a very very limited cast around him. in Montreal. By the way kudos to the rioters in Vacouver, thank to them we no longer have the bill for the dumbest hockey fans here in Montreal.
  18. Already have them, it's indeed worth it, his way of singing goes beyond the language barrier, unfortunately I'm stuck with the edition built as a huge candy box, as in Les Bonbons.
  19. Thanks for the story.
  20. We should have a sub-forum to welcome newbies and where they could wirite their first impressions about the board
  21. Matt is fun to watch indeed, saw David Ware solo, quite a fascinating set he played one piece on the Sopranino and one on tenor, despite his health problems he seems in great spirots as after the set he went for an inpromptu Q&A with the audience, demanding questions from the audience.
  22. Ordered the Braxton, Konits and Lacy from Amazon UK, it's even cheaper than France and considering we have a postal strike here, I'm not in a hurry
  23. Found this one cheap, listening to it right now, am subscribing to your sentiments, it makes me move in a way a man my age shouldn't...
  24. Don't get me wrong, Rocky is a fun and entertaining movie but it was against heavy artillery, they gave it to the most popular film instead of the best one.
