  1. By the way, here's the call of the winning goal by Spain radio. No need to understand spanish http://www.elpais.com/audios/deportes/Final/Mundial/Gol/Iniesta/Holanda/0-Espana/elpauddep/20100711csrcsrdep_23/Aes/
  2. Yep and only people from Switzerland can stop people from Spain
  3. The Montreal Gazette is run by a bunch of clueless hacks. We're talking about the same piece of crap that ran an article about a Maria Schneider concert complaining about the way she dressed http://communities.canada.com/montrealgazette/blogs/wordsandmusic/archive/2009/07/02/maria-with-the-long-bare-arms.aspx Regarding the Zorn gig, I guess the people running the jazz fest while never claiming it was you typical Lou Reed concert, used him as a name to sell tickets. Remember the best tickets were at around 100 $, do you usually sell avant-garde music to this price ?
  4. Robben will see his scoring chances missed for the rest of his life, the most attacking team won, congrats to Spain, must be a hell of a party down there.
  5. Because of the heat wave, currently writing my posts only wearing underwear, good this this board does not intergrate webcams.
  6. So far neither Grooves or Cam Jazz have annonced any pricing. Ordering all four from Amazon France is costing 89 Euros shipping included, remember I'm a Canuck.
  7. The scale of price is a bit out of whack , 23 Euros for the Bowie 3 cd set, while for the Taylor who has two more cds is 25 Euros. For those wondering, talking about FNAC, found it on Amazon France with prices ranging from the Bowie at 18 Euros to Russell at 31.
  8. Heatwave also here, with the humidex factor over 104, you know it's hot when despite being summer restaurants and bars are keeping their windows shut so customers can enjoy fresh air.
  9. Congrats indeed, we will have a first time winner between two underacheiving teams. Was impressed how Spain was able to impose their tactics on the Germans
  10. Considering the way both teams played, if Spain actually beats Germany, it be a bigger upset than the Netherlands beating Brazil.
  11. An All Euro final it will be...
  12. Two words Tigran Hamasyan, a solo performance for the ages.
  13. For a while there was a possibility of this competition turning into a DCopa America and suddenly the chances of having a South American representative in the finals are getting slimmer.
  14. The weather and my hectic schedule during these evenings makes it hard to do much crowdgazing, weather has not been great so far, and the ladies have yet to reveal more of their charms. Caught Surman in duet with Howard Moody on church organ, now we can talk about Moody blues worthy of being in a jazz festival. Tonight among our visitors outstanding young pianist Tigran Hamasyan will resume his solo spot, John Scofield will play with a Gospel band funnyman Robert Glasper will invite hip hop artist Bilal, another pianist worth checking out Tord Gustavsen in a quartet and finally the gig that has the more appeal to me Tomasz Stanko in a quintet. If you wanna meet me , I'll be near the place where Keith Jarrett trio will play, I'll be selling vuvuzelas for the occasion
  15. Quite happy to be wrong, you just have to look at my nickname to know who I was cheering for. This is not the most talented Oranje side I ever seen but but this is the one that seems to work the best collectively and have the best attitude. The two teams i picked for the finals are out, while the whole talk pre competition was about how Spain would finally obtain success ion the WC stage, the same can be said abouth Netherlands.
  16. so do tell! that looks like an exhausting day - The Dreamers / Electric Masada would pull you thru. It was one of the best concert days of my life, now, the only set that was a bit subpar was Uri Caine whose music did not really fitted with the rest of the ensemble. Considering how short the sets were it was really easy to digest, heck I'm ready to see them all on a full course basis instead of the musical degustation. The tightness of the ensembles was quite phenomenal, was great to see Courvoisier and Feldman work out their magic back again. Mark Ribot was riveting to listen so was Cyro Baptista to watch and listen. Ending with Electric masada which had the hardest music of all the formation showcased was a smart choice, although the selfish in me would have loved to see the evening ending with the original Masada quartet.
  17. Hey Weezie, we almost crossed our paths, I attended the few first minutes of the Zaldivar gig at 9 pm before getting back to the Zorn marathon, glad you are enjoying yourself. Forgot to update this thread, tonight is an amazing evening, you have Robert Glasper with Terrence Blanchard, Jack Dejohnette has his own project, Zorn is at it again this time with the odd pairing of Laurie Anderson and Lou Reed, outstanding guitarist Sylvain Luc has a solo outing, Tigran Hamasyan plays solo and Amhad Jamal is in town. So far besides the Zorn Marathan other gigs thast standed out the most were Vijay Iyer in trio and Chano Dominguez who is an extraordinary pianist.
  18. Have a great prediction streak going on, the last time a team i predicted to win that actually lost was june the 24th Italia-Slovakia, anyway my prediction is that only Spain will break the South-American homogeneity.
  19. They should have started the game with the penality kicks instead of playing this dreadful match
  20. Last second round matches today the first game is not stereotypical World Cup matchup Paraguay-Japan while the other is basically a Derby , picking Paraguay in the first game the second one is more of a pick'em, game, think (and hope) this is the last we see of C. Ronaldo this summer.
  21. Game, set and Match for Brazil Netherlands-Brazil sounds like a classic in the makings
  22. Would love to see Chile go through, enjoyed watching them despite their lack of finition, don't think it will happen though.
  23. If the Dutch could find a Batman to Robben this game would be all over.
  24. The Dutch are playing llike the Germans used to play, and the Germans are playing like the Dutch used to play, wonder what will it mean in the end.
