Cliff will probably disagree but the Champions League games played today sure gave us plenty of thrills. Among the two games broadcasted here i saw Barcelona upset at home by FC Rubin who were quite opportunistic and Lyon making a nice come back to get a very rare win by a French side in Anfield. From the highlites, they were plenty of other games with plenty of twists and plots. -

Captain Lou Albano passes away

I have sorta of bad news, according to most reviews about this book were that it was too often innacurate especially regarding recent information and events about the subject. His last foray in the mainstream was when he participated on a awful Fox tv show animated by the lawyer of the Oj Simpson trial, where they put different people through a lie detector. Capt'n Lou was there trying to prove that wrestling was not fixed. -

Maybe that's the same with human beings, -
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/10/14/...in5384001.shtml If he were just another wrestling character, i probably would not made a post of it, but for those who were into pop music when the video and MTV craze came out in the 80s are very familiar with the fellow as he played the father of Cindy Lauper in her probably more famous video. As a wrestling character, remember him as a scary guy when i was following wrestling as a kid.

At this point , think that anything that can help sell jazz CDs will be appreciated. They can put naked ladies of the cover, it would work with me...

What live music are you going to see tonight?
Van Basten II replied to mikeweil's topic in Live Shows & Festivals
Nice Americana bill with a great first part by Buddy Miller and then Emmylou Harris. After a rough start she got into gear and a quite pleasant evening with a mix of her older songs, recent ones, a few classics either contemplative music or ones with more beat. Among the highlites the expected visit of the McGarrigle sisters who were there for a few songs and a bluegrass piece done a capella led by Emylou and three of the musician doing harmonies, absolutely georgous. -

And now new USL champions Montreal Impact !!! After beating our Canadian rivals 3-2 in Vancouver, we scored 3 goals in the first half to kill any chances of a comeback. Why would you care about this championship, well remember this name Mark Dos Santos, this gentleman will make his mark as a coach not only on a domestic level on a higher level of play, either as someone in charge of a national side somewhere down the road or eventually as a the manager of top club in Europe. The work he did with his current team was quite brilliant. -
Heard of her but i can't say she's very present on the Montreal scene, she did one "highly" publicized gig here with Nash and Washington which i unfortunately missed, so i never had the pleasure to listen to her yet. So, i really can't comment on her playing, except repeating what has been said of her. Basically, she works well within her confort zone. Her mentor is Kenny Baron. Regarding the second post, well it is pronounced something like Gahn-nyeah like the former relief pitcher.

Maradona makes Bobby Knight sound like John Wooden -
Bought this gem from a singer i enjoy quite a lot, her previous albums were adaptations of local poets, this one is done entirely in innuit language. Beautifully arranged, it's a bit folkish, she does not have a powerful voice but has a lot of warmth, you can listen a bit of what it's all about on her Myspace site. http://www.myspace.com/chloesaintemarie

Actually enjoy most of the artists mentionned, problem is that the set is aimed at those who have nothing jazz wise in their collection, for those who already plenty of music have already most of this music.

Wong Kar-wai -- Master of the film soundtrack
Van Basten II replied to Norm's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Very good soundtrack, although occidental ears might be put off by the chinese voices on some of the songs. The film by itself is a classic romantic dreamy movie georgousely lit and very fine acting.
