  1. I thought it was because he detested sailing.
  2. Why the skepticism? Is there any reason to think these aren't legit?
  3. If anyone happens to have a spare Evans shrapnell box to sell, PM me.. A used store I get to only occasionally, had a boxless set of the Verve doorstop for about $100 or so if I recall - might have been a bit more. (Don't recall if it came with the booklet or not.) If anyone's interested I can check next time I'm in. Not a bad price if you're gonna ditch the tetanus-laced packaging anyway.
  4. I think it looks awful. Plus I hate the director.
  5. I'm not sure why some get so upset when jazz musicians (or their flunkies) drop by here to advertise their wares.
  6. I've only heard a few Horos via downloaded LP rips and I've never seen an actual LP. I'm very much looking forward to these, especially the Sun Ras!
  7. I'll certainly catch at least one of your L.A. shows.
  8. Good list! I'll have to keep it with me while shopping as I occasionally come across some of the "rarer" ones.
  9. Please, Chuck, don't give them any ideas for a "Bob Weinstock Collection" Series!
  10. Mono Box just arrived! I'd previously, er, found a listening version, but it's nice to hold the real thing in hand.
  11. While the Rose Bowl is less than ten miles from me, I did end up watching some of this on Youtube. I'm not that fond of U2's last album, but the show last night was quite spectacular. Wish I could have seen it in person.
  12. Just got the shipping notice! Yep, got shipping notice on the Dexter Gordon box. Looks like all of this may come through!
  13. I've just bought a new Compaq laptop with Vista on it and they are doing a 'Windows 7 Upgrade' thingie, supposedly a freebie. The postage & package etc. and media costs £21 for UK users though. What a con ! I will have to bite the bullet though. Wonder what they are charging for this 'freebie' in the US? Free.
  14. What is interesting is that I ordered two copies of a couple of items and they initially showed up that way in my order status. But when I look now Amazon has reduced the quantity to one each. I'll take that as a sign that these things might actually ship!
  15. Ah, most prices appear to have been "corrected." Wonder if any of these will ship after all.
  16. Not sure how "real" some of these prices are since a lot of insanely priced stuff just popped up. All 3 Genesis boxes are <$15, the Dexter Gordon, Wes Montgomery, and a complete Pink Floyd set are also incredibly cheap if you search around. Wouldn't be surprised if it all turned out to be "smoke," but I ordered a shitload of stuff anyway.
  17. A good, thorough review of W7 with an interesting historical perspective as well... http://www.winsupersite.com/win7/review.asp
  18. We'll excuse that threadcrap. Great news, Bruce!
  19. Since you've had problems with XP I'm not sure why you're so averse to W7. One of the problems with Vista (at least in the beginning) was it's incompatibility with drivers, but they've since solved that and W7 apparently handles drivers very smoothly. W7 is supposedly much more stable than any previous version of Windows, plus it's far more secure. Either way, it's moot as I'm sure MS will stop supporting XP fairly soon.
  20. That should be setting dependent. If it's a library computer, they probably don't want you doing what you're trying to do. I don't have any problems like that using Vista at home since I don't have it configured that way. I've only been using Vista for about two months, since I bought a new box, but I love it. It's much faster and stabler than XP ever was, but you need the right hardware for it. It's all moot anyway as I should be getting my (free) W7 upgrade any day now.
  21. You need this CD, if you don't already have it. It's apparently OOP, judging from the inflated prices on Amazon, but I see that Screen Archives Entertainment has multiple copies up on eBay for less than what it originally sold for: Vic Mizzy: Suites & Themes Don't have that one specifically, but I know Percepto's owner.
  22. I love the scores he did for those 1960s Don Knotts' films. And Addams Family is a classic.
  23. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000035X5...me=&seller= Newbury has this box for less than $10 shipped.
  24. Lots of terrific, often wonderfully kitschy soundtracks. RIP
  25. That's great, Ed!
