  1. I've seen partial Mosaic sets in any number of stores for years. It's what first exposed me and got me hooked on Mosaic in the first place - maybe ten years ago now. I expect they're "overprints" or promo copies and stuff. There are always extras pressed; how they get out the "back door" I don't know.
  2. Personally I would sue CBS if they showed us Lady Gaga's genitals. Yuck, whatever they are!
  3. Two of my favorites on this one - I'm there!
  4. Congrats Stefan!

    Headphones

Are you going to "break them in"? Or do they sound okay out of the box? While I too tend to scoff at the "breaking in" of audio electronics, there are very real reasons to believe that more mechanical devices like speakers and headphones can sound better with some use. Theory is that the cones and rubber surrounds can be relatively stiff when new but soften up or otherwise break in after some initial use. Whether that results in an appreciable difference in the sound I can't comment on first hand.
  6. David S. Ware - "The Freedom Suite" It's 4 tracks, so you'll have one to look forward to when your account refreshes. This is what pisses me off about the new e-music. It used to be that an album with four songs would take four credits. Now, the four tunes from Ware's album cost you 12 credits. That's total B.S. Well, that's a label-by-label decision. Some labels switched to album pricing, while others remain track-by-track. I doubt that particular Ware album is any cheaper at iTunes. For me it meant altering the way I buy stuff there. I look for the "bargains" on stuff that I want and pass over things (for example the Ware) that I don't think is worth album pricing. I just downloaded a 30-track Red Records comp (that I believe was a 3-disc set) for only 12 credits.
  7. The 45s I've heard have sounded wonderful, but I'd bet it has more to do with the careful mastering these reissues are receiving on vinyl and the quality playback systems I'm hearing them on. Sure, the extra rpms help, but not that much imo, and it's a pain to get up and change sides every 8-10 minutes. But they do sound very very good.
  8. I don't think that Oblique was ever a Conn. It came out initially as one of those white case issues I think - 'Collector's Choice'? Still have it - and remember the euphoria of coming across it in the racks at a Canadian branch of A&B Sound for $9.99 back in the day ! Picked up the King vinyl years later. You're right; it was a CC - which only means it came and went oop even earlier, with a longer gap until the RVG came out. I love those Hutcherson quartet albums!
  9. Is there any easy way to search Newbury's Amazon storefront for bargains like this? I bought tons of stuff from them when they used to run their penny auctions on Ebay, where the shipping was more reasonable for bulk orders.
  10. Agree with all of the above. I remember when Oblique was a "rare" album. Took me a few years to find it on CD (between the Conn and the RVG).
  11. See post #57, where Kevin is quoted: weird....,so now the threads deleted?!? i dont think i understand?!?!? What thread? I don't see any deleted threads over there. It must have never happened.
  12. LOL.. A somewhat funny bunch of assholes. Also useful for keeping track of deleted posts and "banned" content.

  14. FYI, this is also available at emusic for I believe only 24 credits.
  15. You guys are way too hard on SHF. It's no worse than a group of foul-smelling, OCD-afflicted record collectors jammed together in a crowded music store for their annual blow-out sale.
  16. I'd suspect the lack of bass had less to do with the "compressed" files he was playing (presumably) than on weak amplification and subpar speakers. MP3s can sound mighty fine.
  17. I can practically walk to the Echo from my house! Looking forward to the gig.
  18. I'm with Alexander. Sure, it was a bit rough, but it was real - and hell, the guys are like 65 years old now! Least we know they weren't using Autotune.
  19. Damn, you can be one paranoid fool. I'm "friends" with many of my kids teachers and, when they're old enough I'd have no problem with my kids friending them as well. What you don't seem to understand is that nobody is forcing you - or any teacher! - to be a FB "friend" with anyone, adult, student, teenager or otherwise. It's an all "opt in" process.
  20. I'm pissed that Hall & Oates were shut out yet again!
  21. Mostly paranoia. The reason any MS product is more prone to attacks is simply because MS is hated by those who create bugs/exploits and because it's the most popular browser (especially by those less PC-savvy types, and therefore the ones most vulnerable). IE8 is actually pretty damn good and secure, but I've long since moved on to Chrome, which I greatly prefer. As for MS installing updates "on its own," that's an easy fix as there's a setting to prevent exactly that. Anyone still using IE 6 is an idiot.
  22. Early rumors have been confirmed. Apparently the news was broken by his agent. Given that Salinger hasn't published in over 50 years, that's one hell of a loyal agent! I haven't read Catcher in many years; I suspect many will be rereading it tonight. R.I.P.
  23. Sorry to hear this. My condolences Joe.
  24. It would have been an actual movie instead of a overblown video game penned by a 13 year old. Again, an ignorant comment if you haven't seen/read it. Yes RDK, I saw the film, and it was just as bland and mediocre as I thought it would be. Is my opinion validated now or does it only count if I fawn over it like a horny schoolgirl? Yes, having seen it does lend your opinion more validity. I don't agree with it, but that's another issue. What'd Cameron do, stand you up for the prom?
