  1. You can never have too much Basie in your life.
  2. I used to do credit card ordering, but there were kinks, so I've followed your example and used paypal for a while. Seems to work much better.
  3. Truly one of a kind!
  4. I don't think in all the years I've been ordering sets from Mosaic that I've ever gotten any of that, just a confirmation of the order. Sometimes I get a note that a set has been shipped, sometimes not, but they always seem to get here. Anyway, you say that now, but one of those Vanguard sets is said to be ready to go by Christmas.......!
  5. Still celebrating the life and mourning the death of the great Benny Golson
  6. Pretty sure the artists involved did the work with the understanding they wouldn't get paid?? But regardless, I've definitely preordered this one!
  7. Somewhat off topic, but Serling wrote the screenplay for "Seven Days in May," a wonderful movie!
  8. A long and marvelous life, well lived. RIP.
  9. Even though I've been on the board for, what, 20 years, I'm still a "community regular," sorta like Norm in "Cheers."
  10. Mosaic will usually sell the booklet separately if you ask.
  11. Reading the chapter in Friedwald's book about the early 50s when he became a solo, mostly ballad singer.
  12. I remember watching that! Aretha singing a little of "Love you Madly" was fun.
  13. What a wonderful actor he was! I read where he licensed AI to reproduce his voice, so I guess Darth Vader will indeed live more or less forever.
  14. A friend tried showing that one to students in a class, and they were bored to death. I guess it just moves too slowly for people raised in a video culture of quick cuts.
  15. Sounds ok to me, I mean, for that 60s pop kind of style.
  16. Scott Wenzel's lovely epitaph for Dan Morganstern in which he discusses the latter's notes for this set caused me to get it out and give it a listen.
  17. Like so many, I encountered him in his wonderful, wonderful liner notes to numerous issues and reissues. His work at the Institute has probably done more to preserve the music than practically anyone else. Some of his best writing is in this fine book. What a great life!
  18. I love that show! I have a t-shirt with Amos on it that says "I am that guy"
  19. Listening through this one as I read Friedwald's biography Disc 7 right now
  20. Ok, I like superhero movies (I still have a Marvel silver age collection), so I went to see "Deadpool and Wolverine." All the Deadpool movies break the fourth wall, but this one just obliterates it! Way too many fights, but the cameos are fun.
  21. Broadcast from the late period Old Testament band. Ok sound.
  22. Discs 1 and 2 of this one, accompanying a reading of Friedwald's musical bio.
