  1. OK, so I was close. Been a few years since I read the "autobiography".
  2. But you didn't. Was it for legal reasons, or not?
  3. Don't know the reason, but IIRC, Boplicity is credited to Miles' mother (her maiden name too). Cleo Henry, as I recall (too lazy to get up and look, but I think that's right). Didn't I just say that?
  4. Really? Wasn't Boplicity credited to Miles mother for some legal reasons? I don't know if I'm remembering this correctly, I'm sure someone else can confirm or debunk. But maybe KD wrote it but it was credited to Miles due to the strict contractual restrictions (i.e. players weren't in the credits, or were listed under another name, for certain albums because of their contract with another company)? Dunno. I'm blue skying here. But it's an incredibly interesting question.
  5. Always with the digging. Why can't people just leave shit alone?
  6. I love it!! Though it figures Aphex Twin would somehow be associated with it..........
  7. But isn't she hot enough to overlook such a minor detail?
  8. I have a great deal of respect for BB, but I have to admit that I lost a little bit of it that day. I'm reasonable enough to assume that there are two (at least) sides to every story, but his actions that day, on the face of it anyway, were totally classless.
  9. I have nothing of substance to add here. But, I just wanted to say that I appreciate my good friend JS for turning me onto Ms. Michiru. I have no idea what her music is about, but visually she turns my knees to jelly.
  10. Alright you two!! Don't make me come in there!
  11. I can second what JS has said. It did indeed happen.
  12. That would be the one. His name has been changed several times throughout his career. IIRC, it started out as John Cougar, then progressed to John Cougar Mellencamp, and now it's just John Mellencamp. Kinda bizarre, but I've always dug the cat. Maybe the next incarnation of his name will be a hip modern version: JMell
  13. He has always been a pretty hardcore liberal. I'd be surprised if he didn't take that stance on this album.
  14. It is a return to Scarecrow territory especially (doesn't have the acoustic roots textures of Lonesome Jubilee with the accordian and fiddle, etc.), incredibly heartfelt and urgent, as both Scarecrow and Lonesome Jubilee were. I agree those were his peak (Uh-Huh was still a little snotty and a little filler-heavy for me to call it primo). I like what he did after Scarecrow and Lonesome Jubilee, but not like I like those two, and not like I like this new one. I'm sold. I'm probably going to pick it up tomorrow when I get the new Norah Jones for my wife. I'll give a full report.
  15. I really thought he peaked during the Uh-Huh/Scarecrow/Lonesome Jubilee era. Never liked much of anything he did after that. But this new one sounds like a return to that style.
  16. Haven't heard it yet, but plan to. Though I disagree about Scarecrow. The Lonesome Jubilee was much better, IMO.
  17. Yeah, but those bands Elton John had backing him in the early 70's were fucking water tight!!!
