  1. I would shake that cat's paw, other than it would bloody mine if I did, so I will salute instead.
  2. Indeed! He keeps good company. A few I found include (these were the first names that popped in my head and then I stopped): Age 41 - Teddy Ballgame 2 HR, 6 RBI Age 41 - Stan Musial 3 HR, 4 RBI (as w/ Williams' last season, Stan's 1962 is one of the great "old man" seasons) Age 40 - Edgarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Martinez 2 HR, 5 RBI Age 41 - Dave Winfield 1 HR, 5 RBI (so nice he did it twice) Um...and one of GoodSpeak's favorites who is just a little bit controversial so I won't write his name, knocked in 6 at age 42.
  3. A Pitchfork interview with Kevin Shields about the upcoming (yes really) reissues. A bizarre tale of why it took so long. Also amusing (and good) is that the reissues will not be "loud" in an audiophile sense. Extremely loud in person, yet a "quiet" remaster.
  4. 2011 LB Lew Bush, apparent heart attack, age 42 2011 DT Shawn Lee - cardiac arrest, age 44 2008 C Curtis Whitley - OD, age 39 2008 DE Chris Mims - enlarged heart, age 38 1998 LB Doug Miller - lightning strikes (2), age 28 1996 RB Rodney Culver - ValueJet crash in FL (110 killed), age 26
  5. When you put it that way, that's a mighty fine payment indeed! Congrats! The nice thing about photographing graves is they don't blink and a fast shutter speed isn't too great of a concern.
  6. Not that you'd ever find it there, but the PriceBlink browser plug-in says that Target is selling it at that price too. So I think Amazon is just trying to match it. Some of these boxes are such outrageous deals. A few weeks ago I ordered the David Oistrakh EMI box for about $30, and did so thinking it was 9 discs. I found that to be a good deal. It ends up the box has 17 discs. What was I thinking, that a little over $3 per disc could be a good price?
  7. You had to say "on the other hand." Poor Caron, after several seasons of missing at least 1/5 of the season he stayed fairly healthy (just the nagging crap) and then this happens in Game 1. Memphis was a dark horse pick to win the West if you 1) think Fisher will curse OKC or that they just aren't ready yet and 2) figure Manu gets hurt and 3) think bad thoughts about the other candidates. Last year the Blazers stunned Dallas in a game and that sparked a title run. Not that I see that happening with Memphis, but this is how I'd sell Game 2 if I had to the game intro. I wouldn't mention that last year some picked the Blazers as possible "go far" playoff team.
  8. Way to dig up a 2004 birthday wish GA! If birthdays had terms that was 2 ago! Happy birthday .:.impossible.:.
  9. He looks like Lou Gehrig compared to how Albert Pujols is doing. Uh, I meant the living breathing version of Lou... The Mariners are 12th in the majors in runs scored and in a tie for 2nd place. After 2 years of some of worst offense in MLB history I'll take it! I think a summer visit to Safeco is in order.
  10. That's what entered my mind. Also all sorts of red wines. Or cognac. Or a hoppy local ale. Luckily there are enough discs to experiment with! I'm not complaining about the delay at all here, other than the space I had reserved for it on the shelf has become partially filled. If only the Hawk's surname had been Zywiec. I know, his nickname wouldn't have been as catchy...The Zywiec Flys High!
  11. Some of my favorite live Band is on the Dylan/Band Before The Flood album, especially the songs that Levon sings. Many times I've skipped the "shouting" Bob songs for The Band sides. And if you see the late January '83 shows with Danko from Portland or Eugene grab them as they are delightful. Funny banter to go along with very good performances.
  12. OMG, Opeth has a new member!
  13. Well, he is a married man w/ 8 kids. Don't want to break up the family... Lotsa love. I really came to appreciate his way of pitching when he was a Mariner. I hope he's pitching at 50 too!
  14. Oh I agree it is crazy. From what I understand (our area used to have a high end RV manufacturer) that these sort of RVs are often customized for NASCAR drivers and a few rock groups too. With that sort of customer base (along with embezzling city officials!) it is easy to jack up the costs. The relatively tight space to wire & plumb such an RV does increase the labor time some, though in itself not to put it over 2 million.
  15. Just think of it as a vessel to fill with things that cost money. I don't know if this is the exact model though it is an example of 2009 Liberty. As you can see it at least heads into 6 figures.
  16. You gotta think the Elvis Presley estate is deep in programming mode. Better yet have him do duets with 2Pac! There's enough cussin' in '70s session outtakes to make it happen. If holographic 2Pac can be made to say "Coachella" getting Elvis to say "westside" should be no problem.
  17. I'll admit to the same bias. The title Speak Like A Child to me makes me think of some doe-eyed brat with a speech impediment clamoring for attention. (Yes, thankfully I didn't have kids). While it may have been more the reviews and the word "transitional" that kept me away from the album for a few years, the title didn't help matters. With that problem and my atheistic tendencies and it took a little extra gumption to try "God Bless The Child" but thankfully the draw of Dolphy's bass clarinet won out. Later I discovered Bill Holiday. So there might be one or two exceptions Allen.
  18. The Vanilla Sky trick takes the stage (and no, I don't mean Cameron Diaz morphing into Penelope Cruz and back). Edit the obvious: NSFW lyrics. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jucRWjtrcgU&feature=player_embedded
  19. The humor that you'd expect from him is there though it's not especially scary (not that I expected it to be). A couple of the set designs seem out of Angel and Dollhouse and the use of few "friends" from his past shows is always good. I think it will have some replay value due to a couple of scenes, especially one near the end where there's a lot going on. Although I liked it I think I would have liked it more had I not read that it rocked SXSW as the greatest thing ever. All about managing one's expectations...
  20. I imagine somewhere there are a few boy scout Stones fans who send money to friends in Europe to buy & download the FLAC and then Dropbox or whatever the FLAC back to America. There's got to be one or two who have done this.
  21. It's excellent. If you already have the Brussels bootleg in some form (Brussels Affair, Bedspring Symphony, Nasty Music - most if not all had a track or 2 from somewhere other than Brussels) it's still a worthy addition as many songs chosen from the later-in-the-day show that hadn't been booted. The mix is different than the bootlegs as well with the vocals a little more out front but not annoyingly so. It sounds great as it was professionally recorded. If you don't have the boots then rush on over and download this official version now.
  22. Whew, it was wise of your to avoid the biggest controversy - margarine.
  23. I had a scare. I had left disc 1 of the Monk Alone set in the player and my live-in removed it and put in something different. I open up Monk Alone which has a clear tray and see the underside of disc 2 but where is disc 1? In our 20+ years together she's never just left a disc outside its case but maybe this time she put it in sleeve lying about because she couldn't find the Monk case. Where oh where is disc 1? It ends up she put in disc 1 upside down to match the disc on the other side of the tray. And I guess my depth perception a wee bit off as I didn't notice that.
  24. He was so old his son Chris Wallace is 64.
  25. Funny you mention penis. The first virus I ever encountered was transfered via a shared 3 1/2 inch disc. It turned the Amiga cursor arrow into a penis.
