  1. I hear ya, there are definitely some tracks that should never have seen the light of day...however, I still find myself glad to be able to hear these, it helps to understand Bud's rather fractured state of mind. So I look at it in more of a "fly on the wall" perspective. There are some really incredible tracks scattered throughout...
  2. Complete Bud Powell on Verve. Been working my way through this one again...and enjoying every blessed second! Thanks to Lon for turning me onto this many moons ago...
  3. He missed the mention of Chico because the pages were stuck together.
  4. At His Best is probably my favorite of the Argo sessions...but then again, I haven't heard one that I DIDN'T like...so it makes it hard to pick a fave.
  5. Marty didn't throw any interceptions, fumble any kick-off returns or head-butt anyone...at least not that I saw. That I would blame on the players...if you must blame a coach I would look at the position coaches for not keeping their boys disciplined enough.
  6. I thought that was a career-ender. What a vicious hit that was. He proved his toughness, came right out a couple plays later like it never happened.
  7. "Keep matriculating the ball down the field boys...."
  8. Depressing. I took a group of people there to see McCoy Tyner in 2005, I loved the vibe of the place.
  9. Jim, another perfect explanation. I feel that way exactly. The Giants would be the example of a team with TOO MUCH personality right now, to the detriment of the team. Near the end of the season I found myself rooting for the Titans, you WANTED those guys to win because nobody said they could at the beginning of the season. At this point the Saints are the easiest team to root for, they seem to DESERVE a title. There's a fun vibe to that team. The Chargers beat themselves yesterday, no excuse for a 14-2 team to put in a slapdash performance like that one.
  10. I have it, but I'm also good friends with Googe, the bassist from the band. Want me to ask if he has any? Yeah, that would be great. I've been a rabid fan since the original Def American release of the self-titled debut.
  11. Well, since neither team that I was rooting for won today...it puts me in the depressing situation of having to root for the fucking Colts. Just because the Pats annoy me to no end... Come on N.O., knock the overrated Bears out of the playoffs....
  12. That Saints/Eagles game was one of the most entertaining of the year. It played out like a white-knuckle thriller. Deuce deserves the game ball for that one. Now...here's hoping that the Seahawks can upset the Da Bears this afternoon so we can have an NFC Championship in the Superdome.... Hasselback vs Brees, Deuce vs. Shaun Alexander....that would be a FUN game to watch!
  13. Yep, the lackluster Ravens offense "doesn't" do it again. Way to go Colts!
  14. No. I don't think Samplers and drum machines are instruments.
  15. I don't believe that rap killed music. I just believe that rappers aren't musicians. Play an instrument and then maybe I'll pay attention to you....
  16. Can't believe this sucker is out of print, great album. If anyone has a CD for sale let me know. I haven't heard it for years and it's driving me NUTS.
  17. Jay Z is a J-O-K-E Tell me what'cha got....a talentless hack.
  18. Personally I really love this album. Kenny has a very pleasant voice (kind of Nat Cole-ish), the arrangements are nice and there are a couple of kickin' instrumentals as well.
  19. Personally...I'm wishing for a Chargers/Saints Super Bowl. That would be a FANTASTIC game. Brees vs. his former team. I hope the Ravens don't make it...they are BORING!!!
  20. I predict the Bears self destruct thanks to the schizophrenic play of their quarterback....
  21. I'm really glad the Giants lost...they deserved to lose. They have been an embarrassment to the sport for most of the season. They are much better at running their mouths than playing the game. (We don't do that...we're men!) Eli is a joke, Coughlin is out of step with his entire team, Tiki's mind is on his television future....etc.
  22. For the most part I agree with this...except for how HORRIBLY the Chiefs played yesterday. They looked like a team that should NEVER have had the opportunity to play a playoff game.
  23. Crazy game...one of the craziest from recent memory. I feel sorry for Romo, he shouldn't blame only himself for the loss. On another note...some credit has to be given to Seattle. They have been obliterated by injuries all season long. 8 different starting offensive line sets, losing their QB for 4 weeks, the league MVP for 6 weeks, multiple injuries to the receiver core...and not to mention losing 3 of their 4 starting cornerbacks for this game. But those backups stepped up and played solid defense tonight...the Seahawks haven't had much heart this season (and even worse luck) but they showed heart tonight.
  24. I enjoy this album, but it's probably my least favorite of the second quintet dates. Not really sure why, probably because I had already had fallen in love with the earlier albums...plus I was already a fan of Bitches Brew, In A Silent Way, etc...which made this album less of an "event".
  25. I believe the timings on the back of the Collectables CD cover are incorrect.
