  1. That's a cool little utility! I use Comcast as well. My download rated at 5421kbps, my upload was 701kbps.
  2. Get it to a skating rink...FAST!!!!
  3. From Sullivan's Travels: (discussing a film) "...it died in Pittsburgh." "What do they know in Pittsburgh?" "They know what they like!" "If they knew what they liked they wouldn't live in Pittsburgh!"
  4. My personal favorites have always been the one-two punch of Midnight Special & Back At The Chicken Shack.
  5. Damn, I laughed so hard when I read this post that I spilled bong water all over the floor....
  6. What you can't see in that photo Lon...is that he has a severed hand in his mouth.
  7. Well...I was able to get an Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis session from Lonehill that I had never seen anywhere else...in cases like that my scruples go out the door for the music.
  8. Screw iPods! I bought a 5 Gig Dell Pocket DJ and LOVE IT, works flawlessly...even after being dropped on the pavement a few times when getting out of the car.
  9. Johnny Hodges - Wings 'N' Things (Verve) I found it at Goodwill for a 25 cents.
  10. Nothing wrong with having Marc Ribot & Jim Keltner on board either.... Belly Of The Sun is my favorite as well.
  11. Parlan plays more hip shit with his left hand than most people can play with all 10 fingers funtional! His left hand attack is what makes his recordings with Mingus so SLAMMIN'!
  12. WHAT????!!!!!
  13. let's face it...there are people out there that buy one or more Miles Davis CD's...just so they can feel "hip" by having it on the CD shelf. Then when a guest comes over, that allows them to show off how much "class" they have.
  14. Odd, if someone asked me to describe my life, I could use the above quote and save myself the time of writing anything.....
  15. Grant also personally asked for Victor Fleming for GWTW because they had worked together previously. Fleming was a very versatile director who could handle drama or action with equal aplomb. Only Angels Have Wings is one of my all-time favorite Howard Hawks movies. Jean Arthur, Cary Grant and Thomas Mitchell put in amazing performances...a very young Rita Hayworth plays the eye-candy of the picture. There's a sequence where she's been drinking too much, Grant grabs her head and shoves it into the sink and pours water over her head to sober her up. The image of the dripping wet Rita is quite successfully sexy for the time! Another intersting note about 1939: It was the first year that featured an Oscar of Special Effects. The winner was a film called The Rains Came with Myrna Loy...there is flood sequence where a dam breaks and wipes out this entire town...the visual effects are stunning and still look quite good by today's standards. So many great films that year....
  16. Well, Soderburgh has found a great way to work within & yet outside of the Hollywood system. Make a few big blockbusters (Erin Brokovich, Oceans 11, Oceans 12)...that finance his smaller and more personal projects (The Limey, Bubble, Full Frontal, etc). It's a fair trade-off methinks.
  17. That pass interference call on Darrell Jackson was a crock of shit...that should have been a touchdown. Ben didn't make that touchdown. The Seahawks should have won that game.
  18. if you can locate a copy of this one...grab it!!!!
  19. Dan's complaining about buying vinyl??? LOL
  20. Well I just got laid off from my job....so let's hope I don't find out first hand on this particular topic...
  21. worst beard jake the snake vs big ben answer: Big Ben, he may be huge, but he still looks like an overgrown 15 year old, the beard doesn't look right. On the other hand...Thumbs Up to Jake the Snake for playing in Colorado and LOOKING like a mountain man.
  22. Pittsburgh & Seattle in the SB.
  23. GO SEAHAWKS!!!! Finally!!!! I've been a fan of this team since 1981 or so...it's been a long wait... Matt Hassleback & Darrell Jackson deserve major props today for stepping it up and winning without their main weapon in the backfield. Denver was just plain dominate, very good game...the Pats were just outplayed in the end.
