  1. Hope it goes great! Good luck!
  2. Finished up season 2 of Alias.
  3. Somehow in my huge list of 50 albums I forgot this gem from 1973: Nektar - Remember The Future

    Kenny Burrell

No; there'll always be neo-jazz. MG So what is the cutoff year for "real jazz" then? If all new musicians play "neo-jazz" then that means at some point the original version ceased to exist and has been replaced by a facsimile. What year did that happen out of curiosity?

    Alvin Lee, RIP

    Undead (1968) is a must-have! R.I.P. Alvin.
  6. I just started watching Luther season 1, really enjoying it! Ruth Wilson is great.
  7. Easy Blues by Jimi Hendrix, from the upcoming People, Hell & Angels release.
  8. I was only 3 in 1973, but since I've spent most of my adult life mining the treasures of the early 70s (always was and will be my favorite era of music) there are MANY albums from 1973 that I love. Free - Heartbreaker Deep Purple - Who Do Think We Are Blue Oyster Cult - Tyranny And Mutation Alice Cooper - Billion Dollar Babies Camel - Camel Electric Light Orchestra - ELO2 Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon The Doobie Brothers - The Captain And Me King Crimson - Larks Tongues In Aspic Led Zeppelin - Houses Of The Holy Beck, Bogart & Appice - Beck, Bogart & Appice Mahavishnu Orchestra - Birds Of Fire David Bowie - Aladdin Sane Seals & Crofts - Diamond Girl Uriah Heep - Live Hawkwind - Space Ritual Wishbone Ash - Wishbone Four Yes - Yessongs Joe Walsh - The Smoker You Drink The Player You Get Budgie - Never Turn Your Back On A Friend Jethro Tull - A Passion Play Queen - Queen Carlos Santana & John McLaughlin - Love, Devotion, Surrender Mott The Hoople - Mott ZZ Top - Tres Hombres Genesis - Genesis Live Steely Dan - Countdown To Ecstasy 10cc - 10cc Stevie Wonder - Innervisions Marvin Gaye - Let's Get It On The Rolling Stones - Goats Head Soup War - Deliver The Word Flash - Out Of Our Hands Buffalo - Volcanic Rock Thin Lizzy - Vagabonds Of The Western World Gentle Giant - In A Glass House Atomic Rooster - Nice 'N' Greasy Genesis - Selling England By The Pound Herbie Hancock - Headhunters The Who - Quadrophenia Billy Cobham - Spectrum John Prine - Sweet Revenge Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Brain Salad Surgery Alice Cooper - Muscle Of Love Montrose - Montrose Mahavishnu Orchestra - Between Nothingness and Eternity Electric Light Orchestra - On The Third Day Black Sabbath - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath Yes - Tales From Topographic Oceans Wishbone Ash - Live Dates
  9. Overall I think it's a worthwhile release. I like the more stripped-down approach to both Earth Blues and Izabella, I also prefer this version of Bleeding Heart. Easy Blues and Inside Out (that leslie speaker effect is wild!) are probably my favorite tracks, always happy to hear more Hendrix instrumentals. Hey Gypsy Boy is lovely. The version of Hear My Train is okay but that's one of those songs I think I already have sufficient enough versions of. Mojo Man is great fun and Let Me Move You is alright as well...but they don't really fit well with the rest of the material.
  10. Finally getting around to finishing up American Horror Story: Asylum. I still prefer the first season overall, but this one is definitely wall to wall gonzo.
  11. Parenthood - Season One Nice show, really good cast.
  12. Fox has a reputation for airing TV shows out of sequence. I recently caught up with one of their failed shows (2005's The Inside) and researching it I discovered they aired them in this order: Episode 1, 3, 4, 2, 5, 7, 8 They never aired episodes 6 or 9 thru 13. However when the show was broadcast in the UK it was aired in the correct order.
  13. Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip Criminal Minds - Season 3 The X-Files - Season 7 Bones The Following
  14. Happy Birthday my friend! We should get together again next time you're in LA.
  15. One of the first Coltrane albums I heard was Live At The Village Vanguard and I wasn't quite ready for it at the time. Instead I went back and bought the big Prestige box, then followed that with The Heavyweight Champion, then started getting the Impulse albums. By the time I revisited Village Vanguard I was not only ready for it, I was entranced by it. I just had to learn the vocabulary first.
  16. Criminal Minds - Season 2 Plus all the other usual suspects I watch weekly: Californication, Shameless, Bones, The Following, Community, The Vampire Diaries, Elementary, The Big Bang Theory, etc.

    Donald Byrd

One of my favorite Donald Byrd tracks...Eldorado from Blackjack.
  18. It's the after-party for people who would never be invited to an after-party.
  19. Then why start a thread bitching about something you don't watch?
  20. I never listen to modern pop music so I have no idea of how good/bad she is and don't really care. Her videos are fun to watch silently while listening to better music though.
  21. Katy deserves a Grammy for most spectacular cleavage.
  22. Okay, thanks for the tip.
  23. Yeah, that's an irritation but I'm afraid it is "by design" so that only "unread topics" show up under the view new content link. The recent upgrade to the Hoffman board has the exact same behavior.
  24. Watched a quickly-axed Fox show from 2005 called "The Inside" starring Peter Coyote and Rachel Nichols. Fox only aired 7 of the 13 completed episodes (out of order to boot), luckily they showed all 13 episodes in Canada. A shame it was cancelled so quickly, quite a good FBI show. Also watching: Criminal Minds - Season 1 Californication
