I love the late 60s albums: Mustang Blackjack Slow Drag Fancy Free Kofi (though I believe that's 1970)
  2. I can take or leave the music videos/artwork, it has very little bearing on my enjoyment of the music. I do appreciate the artistry behind the animation. I think the video for Drag Ropes from Storm Corrosion fits the music a little better than this one. The rest of the album is quite different from this track but it all flows together into a cohesive statement. I was kind of surprised that this song was chosen for the debut video, I was expecting either The Pin Drop or Drive Home.
  3. Glad to see the deluxe edition of In Absentia will be coming out, I was hoping they would eventually reissue the album and include the Futile EP. There are many great demos from those sessions that have been traded in bootleg form, I hope we'll get to see some of those...especially the full length version of Strip The Soul which clocks in at 16 minutes. Not sure about Yellow Hedgerow Dreamscape, I'm not that crazy about that era of PT, I kind of start with "The Sky Moves Sideways".
  4. Here is the new music video for the title track "The Raven That Refused To Sing", the stunning animated film was created by the same director that did the "Drag Ropes" video for Storm Corrosion.

R.I.P. Byrd was one of my favorites, maybe not as flashy as Lee Morgan or Freddie Hubbard but damn soulful, a fine player. I find his 60s Blue Note albums to be consistently enjoyable.
  6. I'm really enjoying Continuum, it gets better and more detailed with each episode. They have the entire series available for streaming from the Canadian website so I'm almost finished with season one. The Following is *okay*, not as effective as it should be but I'll probably keep watching for awhile to see how it develops. I've been watching "Criminal Minds", I like a good police-procedural now and again, it's a good filler series to keep me entertained while waiting for new episodes of other shows.
  7. Life was the first time I really noticed him, loved the series and wish it had remained on the air longer.
  8. My all-time favorite long track: Dexter Gordon - Tanya (from One Flight Up). 18 minutes.
  9. Homeland - Season One I'm a big fan of Damian Lewis, he does not disappoint in this show.
  10. I have no issues with the moderators approach to discussing "grey market" material. In regards to the decline of the board one thing that does bother me is us older users shooting down newer people when they start a new thread on a previously"much-discussed" topic. Someone joins, starts a thread on Miles Davis or something and immediately gets scolded for not using the search function and dredging up an old thread, which sometimes hasn't been updated for years. It's really not enjoyable to join a board and be forced to dig through 45 pages of a previous discussion before making an "informed post". Many of the other message boards I post on archive old threads that haven't been updated for a year, because even though there is valuable information there...it's a dead discussion. Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to let the new users start a topic anew and get the current views of our users instead...I know my views change over the years, so something I wrote 7 years ago may no longer reflect how I feel on the topic. Just a thought.
  11. The Following is very grim (it got much worse after the dog scene btw), but I will at least watch a couple more episodes to see how it progresses. When the show is based around a serial killer it's kind of hard to make it light and fluffy and feel accurate. Right now I'm watching Continuum on Syfy.
  12. I know the idea has been shot down numerous times but it would make a helluva lot more sense if they were all collected together in one place. It's not like they don't already exist, so creating a separate location for them isn't really changing a thing except organizing the site more logically.
  13. "I, Robot" - Isaac Asimov
  14. Really nice to see the Niners going back to the Superbowl!
  15. I will miss Fringe, always sad to see an imaginative sci-fi show end.
  16. I thought it was incredibly entertaining, I'm not a QT fanboy or anything, but I think it is one of his most enjoyable films.
  17. After watching a bunch of dark and heavy stuff over the past couple weeks decided I needed a break with something relatively light and funny (excepting dead bodies of course).
  18. What song do I want to hear? Latona! Please, please, please!
  19. "Beehive" from Dr. Lonnie Smith's "The Healer" album. Holy FUCK is this a badass performance!
  20. I'm starting to connect with it now (on episode 5). Now at some point I need to go back and give Mad Men another shot, I've started watching that series twice (a couple years apart) and ended up bailing on it both times. I really dislike most of the characters on that show, makes it really hard to connect with.
  21. Breaking Bad - Season One Watched two episodes so far, I can definitely appreciate the artistry in the series...but I'm not sure if I actually like it. Haven't decided whether I will continue with it or not.
