Re: the iTunes & FLAC thing. I ended up using a little freeware app called "Max" which is an audio file converter. I converted the FLAC files to ALAC (apple lossless) and then loaded them into the iTunes library. Works like a charm.

Glad you figured out it was a file permissions problem. I recently did the switch from Windows to Mac and had an issue with alot of my music files that were stored on an NTFS external hard drive. The Mac could access the files but not make any changes to them, once I figured out the problems I was able to "take ownership" of the files using Root User mode and that solved the problem. I used to balk at the idea of using iTunes, but once I saw how much better it performed on a Mac, I changed my mind.

Starting Lost over again...watching Season 1 now.

She was in quite a few independent movies over the past few years, some of varying quality, but she was always good. They have alot of them on Netflix instant. I don't really care what the cause was, it's just sad to see someone that talented die so young. There was an extra "spark" to her performances that set her apart from the pack, she'll be missed.

It's also important to note that Cameron has always featured both strong female characters in his films....and that he's explored the whole environment debate previously, remember the "aliens" in The Abyss that decided they needed to wipe out mankind to protect themselves from being destroyed because we (humans) were trashing the planet?

I don't really buy many LPs anymore. The only time I pick them up these says is if they come with either bonus CDs or a card for down-loadable mp3 tracks with it. That way I have the original vinyl and another format I easily use for portability.

It's one of those flicks where the effects are so consistently incredible that you forget you are watching effects. Stunningly realized and the best 3-D I've ever experienced. It's definitely groundbreaking and is going to be hard to top. This isn't "cartoonish" CGI and the short clips on TV don't do it justice. This one is worth taking the drive to the movie theater to see. The actual plot to the film is nothing we haven't seen before, but it's so convincingly pulled off it's easy to forgive that. There are certain times when people need to take off their "critics hats" and just enjoy a movie whose sole purpose is to entertain and NOT talk down to it's audience. This is the one of the few big budget blockbusters in recent memory that doesn't seem like it's written for people with 2 digit IQs. It's also nice to see Cameron and Sigourney Weaver re-united. All around, better than I expected in every way....plus as Lon mentioned it's got Michelle Rodriguez in it...and she definitely wins the "running in tank top" award for the year.

Thanks gang! I am planning to get the iLife suite soon and I downloaded a demo of iWork and have been playing with that. The only reason I installed the Play application is because it supported FLAC files where iTunes does not. I'll look into these other applications tonight.
